Post 3 29/04/2026 — The NDIS was never meant to operate like a corner shop
The NDIS was never designed to operate like a corner shop.
This is a taxpayer-funded system supporting vulnerable people — not a marketplace where anyone can step in, cut corners, and get paid.
In my last post, I spoke about where people get caught out.
This sits above that.
Because the real issue isn’t just individual mistakes — it’s how the system is being approached.
When public funds are involved, the expectation should be clear:
accountability, transparency, and proper compliance.
There are many providers doing the right thing.
But there are also too many operating without structure, without oversight, and without delivering what participants are actually funded for.
Registration alone won’t eliminate that.
But stronger compliance, clearer expectations, and consistent enforcement will reduce it.
At its core, this isn’t about registered vs unregistered.
It’s about whether providers are:
• Delivering what they claim
• Acting in the participant’s best interest
• Providing consistent, reliable support
Because that’s what the system is meant to deliver.
Not shortcuts. Not inconsistency. Not guesswork.
Real support, delivered properly.
