As Carers in the pink collar sector Your Hart 2 Hart stand in solidarity with all initiatives that strive to make workplaces safer for all workers. The often heard refrain of Who cares for the Carers? Is one we take with seriousness as we make policies & advocate for safer & fairer working conditions for workers in the pink & blue collar community services & health sector. While we take all steps to make our workplace a great place to work we are aware of systemic issues that entrench disadvantage, discrimination & poorer work conditions for us in this majority female worker care sector. We applaud initiatives by the to raise community awareness of this critical issue at prominent venues such as & other key Melbourne sites. We ask other governments to do the same & for all of us to support the need for safer conditions for carers to be legislated & enforced .

Despite the grey sky we had a great foodies group in Melbourne today! As part of making helping to make food more accessible in accordance with sustainable development goals , healthful & exciting we run a range of activities to assist our group members access healthy & affordable food, try food from other cultures & attend cooking classes . This Harmony Month we are trying food from different cultures each week! Our groups are fully supported, accessible & inclusive & overseen by NDIS screened Support Workers. Join us!

Did you know that Human Rights have been important in the development of societies going back to Ancient China, India & Babylon? These universal Human Rights contributed to the laws of Greece & Roman society & are central to Christian, Confucian, Hindu, Islamic, Jewish & Buddhist teachings. All Human Rights are based around core underlying principles of equality & non-discrimination as laid out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights .

Support Worker facilitated to ensure your support needs are met, inclusive, accessible & mainstream movie groups are a great way to start your community participation goals & meet others with shared interests. On this International Women’s Day we reflect on human rights & the Principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which at core recognises the inherent dignity, & the equal & unalienable rights of all members of humanity not just the privileged few. As an we strive to support human rights & anti-discrimination movements the world over & reflect on the barbarous actions -past & present- that occur when our human rights are stripped or reduced. These acts outrage the conscience of mankind, make society unsafer for all & erode trust in our systems. Your Hart 2 Hart are registered as a business for social good as a BCorp B Generation movement which are businesses that are good for people, planet, economies & communities. Did you know that being a female Carer costs women more than $500000 over a lifetime which leaves women with less superannuation than men (source University of Sydney reported in The Bulletin). At this rate we can’t expect gender parity for decades & many of the women earning less over a lifetime are the ones most likely to be filling a caring role. Parenthood, providing aged & disability care or caring for people who need health care also reduces livelihoods. Let us also highlight the caring work done by grandparents where often grandmothers provide childcare to their grandchildren & adjust work hours to do it. Equally women in employment are likely to be in lower paid positions & lower paid industries & occupations such as the pink & blue collar sector industries of care delivery. So why haven’t past responses closed the gender gap? Care is often distributed to other females within the family & when this cannot happen it is redistributed to the pink collar care sector which is mostly comprised of women workers. According to reported statistics this highly feminised care industry has a large proportion of poorly remunerated or casual roles. As Australia is a country driven by an ethos of democracy & the fair go we need sustained & effective responses to these issues that previous responses have failed to remedy. Social Enterprises here & around the world have started a growing movement that creates businesses & services that are best for people, planet, economy & community. There has never been a better time than now to explore BCorp businesses & the BCorp model of service delivery to find a viable way to serve our most vulnerable & care for women in the pink collar sector. Truly, this will benefit Australians, clients, families, communities & the broader Australian economy.
