Often the discussion around round vs teardrop implants is simplified to 'Round gives more upper pole, teardrop looks more natural', but it's far more nuanced than this.

Both have their strengths and weaknesses. Round implants have a low rate of complications and can create an 'enhanced' look, but because it's base is round, in order to fit one your breast needs to be as wide as it is tall, and the ni**le needs to be right in the middle. They're a great option when appropriate, but don't fit every patient.

Teardrop implants can, for the same implant width, have different heights, different projections, and different points of maximal projection to line up with the ni**le. They can be customised to fit patients that may have breasts that are tall and narrow, or short and wider, and are often a better option for women that have, through breastfeeding or weight loss, a ni**le position that has descended down on the breast.

Selecting the correct implant for your own individual breast can be complex, but is pivotal in achieving your desired outcome. This is why during your consultation, Dr Cronin takes time to listen to your desired outcomes, analyse and measure your existing breast dimensions, and recommend and explain the implant that is best suited to you.

To book a consultation with Dr Cronin, you will require a referral from your GP.

What is a SMAS Facelift?

The SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) facelift is one of the most commonly performed facelift techniques and involves addressing deeper facial tissues—not just the skin.

This approach lifts and tightens the underlying layers of the face, including muscles and fat, to improve the appearance of the midface, jawline, and neck.

✨ What to expect:
Incisions are typically made around the hairline and ears. The deeper facial tissues are repositioned, and excess skin is removed.

👤 Best suited for:
Individuals with moderate to significant sagging through the cheeks, jowls, and neck.

To find out if this technique is right for you, book a consultation with Dr Cronin for a thorough consultation to discuss the procedure and risks. You will need a referral from your GP.

Bilateral breast lift (Mastopexy) with fat grafting

This patient came to see Dr Cronin after achieving weight loss of around 20kgs with concerns around her low, deflated breast position, stretched areolas and breast asymmetry.

This procedure took approximately 2 hours and was performed as a day procedure. No drains were required.

The patient was able to undertake most of her activities of daily living 2 weeks post-operatively, and return to exercise and swimming at 6 weeks.

Photos are taken 6 months post-operatively.

✈️ How soon can I fly after surgery?

This is one of the most common questions we’re asked — and the answer depends on the type of procedure you’re having.

🩺 For day procedures (such as breast surgery, where you're discharged the same day), you’ll have a post-operative review on Day 4. At this appointment, our nursing team will assess your recovery and let you know if you're fit to fly home.

🏥 For larger procedures (such as a belt lipectomy), your recovery journey is more involved. You’ll stay in hospital for up to 6 days, followed by up to a 7-day stay at Spendelove Private Hospital, a private post-surgical rehabilitation facility. If you have private health insurance, this stay is typically covered. During this time, you’ll have two post-operative reviews, and if you're progressing well, you’ll receive clearance to fly home after your second review.

🧦 Compression stockings will be provided for your flight home to reduce the risk of complications and support circulation during travel.

Your safety and recovery come first — and we’ll guide you every step of the way. 💛

Upper Blepharoplasty

This patient was happy with her appearance, but felt that premature hooding of her eyelids was affecting her periorbital aesthetics.

Dr Cronin performed an upper blepharoplasty procedure with periorbital fat preservation and tarsal fixation to restore a smooth supratarsal (eyelid) fold.

This procedure took one hour and was performed as a day procedure. Sutures were removed at the one week mark, after which time the patient resumed her normal activities of daily living. She was cleared to return to swimming and exercise after 3 weeks.

Photos are taken 6weeks after her procedure.

Breast augmentation with internal bra and fat grafting

This patient came to see Dr Cronin with concerns regarding under-developed left breast, asymmetrical ni**le positions and fold positions, and very wide cleavage planes.

Dr Cronin performed a hybrid breast augmentation with anatomical implants and fat grafting to symmetrise the size and shape of the breasts, with internal bra fixation to create braless cleavage lines. The position of the infra-mammary fold of the breast was lowered on the left side to match the right.

This procedure took 90 minutes and was performed as a day procedure. No drains were required. Photos are taken at 6 weeks pot-op, after which time the patient could return to exercise and swimming.

A circumferential lipectomy also known as a body lift, will take between 4-6hours depending on the complexity of the surgery and if any other procedures have been added. After the procedure, you will typically stay in hospital for between 5-6nights depending on the extent of the surgery and the patient's overall health.

Patient's will be placed in a post-operative garment which is to be worn for at least 6weeks.

When can I return to exercising?
Most patients can return to their normal daily activities, including work, after about 4-6 weeks. However, it’s important to note that more strenuous activities, such as heavy lifting or vigorous exercise, should still be avoided for a longer period, as advised by your surgeon.

When can I drive?
Patients are typically advised to avoid driving for at least 2 to 3 weeks after surgery. This period allows for initial healing and reduces the risk of complications.

How long until I will see the final results?
It can take several months for the swelling to fully subside, and the final results of the procedure to become apparent. During this time, you should continue to follow your surgeon’s post-operative instructions and attend any scheduled follow-up appointments.

To book a consultation with Dr Cronin, you will require a referral from your GP.
