Often the discussion around round vs teardrop implants is simplified to 'Round gives more upper pole, teardrop looks more natural', but it's far more nuanced than this.
Both have their strengths and weaknesses. Round implants have a low rate of complications and can create an 'enhanced' look, but because it's base is round, in order to fit one your breast needs to be as wide as it is tall, and the ni**le needs to be right in the middle. They're a great option when appropriate, but don't fit every patient.
Teardrop implants can, for the same implant width, have different heights, different projections, and different points of maximal projection to line up with the ni**le. They can be customised to fit patients that may have breasts that are tall and narrow, or short and wider, and are often a better option for women that have, through breastfeeding or weight loss, a ni**le position that has descended down on the breast.
Selecting the correct implant for your own individual breast can be complex, but is pivotal in achieving your desired outcome. This is why during your consultation, Dr Cronin takes time to listen to your desired outcomes, analyse and measure your existing breast dimensions, and recommend and explain the implant that is best suited to you.
To book a consultation with Dr Cronin, you will require a referral from your GP.
