Circumferential Lipectomy with Augmentation Mastopexy

This patient underwent a circumferential lipectomy and breast augmentation using round 380cc implants with a breast lift (mastopexy) after massive weight loss following bariatric surgery.

This procedure took around 6 hours, and the patient was an inpatient in hospital for 5 nights post-operatively.

The scar position for the circumferential lipectomy was designed to be disguised behind the patient’s string bikini line as shown in the after photo.

Breast Augmentation with internal bra and fat grafting- Anatomical 375cc implants

This patient came to see Dr Cronin to increase breast volume and improve her breast shape. Due to her slightly lower ni**le position, Dr Cronin recommended a teardrop shaped implant with moderate projection, with a final volume of 375cc’s.

Braless cleavage and upper pole projection were created by use of an internal bra support and autologous fat grafting to the cleavage planes.

Photos are taken at 6 weeks post operatively, at which time the patient is able to return to all of her previous activities of daily living, including exercise and swimming.

To book a consultation with Dr Cronin, you will require a referral from your GP.

Breast Reduction- Mammoplasty

This patient in her 20’s came to see Dr Cronin after suffering with large, heavy breasts with asymmetry her entire adult life. She had persistent neck and back pain, difficulty wearing normal clothing, and difficulty with exercising.

Dr Cronin performed a bilateral breast reduction and lift, reducing the right side more to create symmetry in size between the two sides. This procedure took 2 hours and was performed as a day procedure - the patient went home the same day.

Photos are taken 6 weeks after surgery, at which time the patient was able to resume all of her normal daily activities, including exercise and swimming.

To book a consultation with Dr Cronin, you will require a referral from your GP.

Circumferential Lipectomy with Breast Reduction

Scar placement in circumferential lipectomy - this patient underwent a circumferential lipectomy and bilateral breast reduction with Dr Cronin after losing 55kgs, but still had excess skin and GG sized breasts.

These before and after photos highlight the importance of placement of the circumferential lipectomy scars in what’s described as the ‘string bikini’ line - this means the scar is placed where you would expect it to be covered by their swimwear or underwear. Low at the front, gradually rising to the hips, and then placed over the top of the gluteal prominence at the back, meeting in the natal cleft.

These photos are taken 6 weeks post operatively. By 12-18 months the scars will have faded and be much closer in colour to the surrounding skin, making them significantly less noticeable.

To book a consultation with Dr Cronin, you will require a referral from your GP.

Facelift recovery is a journey – and skin health plays an important role.

Recovery following a facelift is gradual, with swelling and bruising expected in the early stages while the tissues heal. While surgery addresses skin laxity and underlying facial structure, overall skin quality continues to influence how the skin settles and ages over time.

Optimising the skin both before and after surgery can assist with texture, tone and overall skin resilience as healing progresses. As part of post-operative care, all facelift patients receive a Synergie Skin A-Zinc Kit at their 6-week review with Dr Drew Cronin.

This kit is designed to support the skin barrier and promote healthy skin function during recovery, with benefits including hydration support, antioxidant protection and daily broad-spectrum sun protection — an essential component of long-term skin health following facial surgery.

Skincare does not replace surgery; however, when appropriately selected and introduced at the right time, it can complement surgical outcomes. Every patient’s recovery is individual, and a personalised approach to both surgery and skin care is essential.

General information only. Individual advice should always be obtained from a consultation with a qualified medical practitioner.

A common question patients ask is whether the ni**le is removed and repositioned during a breast lift (mastopexy) or breast reduction.

In this video, Specialist Plastic Surgeon Dr Drew Cronin explains that the ni**le-areola complex remains attached to the underlying breast tissue and is carefully elevated into a new position, rather than removed and replaced.
