✨ What is an “internal bra” in breast surgery?
The term can sound confusing, but it does not involve placing an actual bra inside the body. Instead, it refers to a surgical technique that provides temporary internal support for implants.
🔹 How it works
* A dissolvable suture is placed to secure breast tissue to the chest wall/rib
cage.
* This acts like a “ledge,” helping hold the implant in place and enhancing
cleavage.
* Over about 3 months, the suture dissolves and the body’s natural capsule
forms to keep the implant supported.
🔹 When it’s used
* Particularly helpful in revision cases (remove/replace implants).
* When the old capsule needs to be removed.
* To maintain implant position until the new capsule develops.
