For more than a decade, Paige has been an integral part of AEIOU’s story and the stories of countless children and families 👩‍⚕️💙

Paige began her journey with AEIOU as an Occupational Therapist, and over time has stepped into leadership as our Manager of Clinical Delivery. Her commitment, passion, and care embody what makes AEIOU so special.

As we celebrate 20 years, we also celebrate the people like Paige who dedicate their careers to changing lives every single day.

Every AEIOU story is special and Ben’s journey is no different 💙
Ben, an AEIOU graduate, represents the hope and potential that early intervention creates. His dad, David, has been a passionate supporter of AEIOU and a voice for families raising children with autism.

Together, their family has been part of our story for many years, reminding us how powerful community can be in creating opportunities for children.

In the early days of AEIOU, Joey was one of the very first children to walk through our doors 🎓

Joey’s journey with AEIOU is a reminder of how early intervention shapes lives not just for a moment, but for a lifetime. Over the years, he and his family have remained strong supporters, even helping us celebrate our 15-year milestone.

Now, as we celebrate 20 years, we’re honoured to share Joey’s story once again, and to recognise his family’s lasting connection to AEIOU 💙

After more than 16 years of dedicated leadership, our CEO, Alan Smith has commenced his retirement. Under Alan’s leadership AEIOU Foundation has grown by 8 centres, crossed borders to ACT and SA, expanded service offering, advocated for countless families, created many strong partnerships and made a great difference in the lives of children with autism.

We are incredibly grateful for everything Alan has done for AEIOU and the team behind AEIOU, and we wish him all the best in the new life chapter with his family.

While we prepare to share details of Alan’s successor in the coming weeks, our Chief Financial Officer, David Doxey, will serve as Acting CEO to ensure a smooth transition.

Please join us in thanking Alan for his outstanding contribution and wishing him all the best in retirement 💙

Today, we officially turned the first sod on AEIOU’s brand-new purpose-built Camira centre! An incredible milestone that will expand autism-specific early intervention supports for children in Ipswich and Brisbane’s southwest 💙

This exciting development has been made possible through the $5.9 million Queensland Government investment and the generosity of our philanthropic partners and community supporters.

Thank you to all our guests who joined us to celebrate this milestone. Special thanks to Charis Mullen MP, Councillor Nicole Jonic - Ipswich City Council, Hutchinson Builders, Chain Reaction Challenge Foundation, the AEIOU Board, and Georgia for sharing her family story about the impact of AEIOU.

The new facility will include spacious classrooms, dedicated therapy rooms, a motor skills area, and a spacious outdoor playground, creating an environment where local children can learn, grow and thrive.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this project and to the Camira community for celebrating this milestone with us 💙

A huge thank you to Dolphins NRL for your incredible support!
This morning, we welcomed Francis Molo and Isaiya Katoa at our centre, where they joined the children for a sunny morning filled with fun activities 🏉✨

Francis and Isaiya met some of our staff and children and learned more about what we do at AEIOU and how we support children with autism. From a colourful sensory activity to kicking the footy, the children loved every moment.

These visits mean so much to our children, families, and staff as they create unforgettable memories.

We’re so grateful for the Dolphins’ support and the smiles we shared with our centre! Thank you for the gifts that our families and staff will enjoy!

22/08/2025

AEIOU welcomes the announcement from Minister Mark Butler MP earlier this week of the Thriving Kids program for children with mild to moderate autism and developmental delay. This is an important step toward a more sustainable system, giving families access to the supports through Medicare and mainstream services.

Autism is lifelong, and every individual’s needs are different. While some autistic children can thrive with short-term supports that build confidence, social skills and learning strategies in mainstream education, autistic children with high support needs require intensive, specialised interventions that the NDIS was designed to deliver.

We urge the government to put safeguards in place to make sure no child with additional needs is left behind, with pathways to care, whether in the mainstream setting or specialised environment.
