Spring is one of the best times of year to explore the great outdoors! 🌤

Cameron chose to visit Trentham by car with support from Jacquie -his Independent Living Support Worker from Distinctive Options.

Cameron loved walking along the Wombat Creek Walk and was lucky to see some kookaburras in the bush. Can you spot the kookaburra in one of the photos?

Cameron also visited the delightful Trentham Falls, which was flowing abundantly after recent rain.

After he'd explored the stunning Australian bush in this part of Central Victoria, Cameron visited the legendary Trentham Bakery and recommends it to all. In particular, he loves their classic custard tart!

Where do you like to go walking in the great outdoors? 🌲

Paddleboat cruising!

The outdoor adventure group from Distinctive Options Bendigo drove to Echuca to relax aboard a classic paddle steamer boat.

Robert, Leon, Phoebe and Ella loved checking out the engine room to see how the propulsion works.

Everyone enjoyed the magnificent views and felt the great sense of relaxation that comes with gently cruising along the mighty Murray.

🏉 Footy fever hits DO Sunbury Groups! 🏉

We kicked things off with a non-traditional warm-up – a fun dance session in the Memorial Hall rocking out some moves to YMCA, some Queen
classics, and of course, the Lions and Cats theme songs 💃🕺 before
heading out for a football clinic run by the legends at Reclink Australia and
our awesome Distinctive Options staff on the Sunbury Village Green.

The day finished on a delicious note with a BBQ lunch cooked up by the
Rotary Club of Sunbury 🌭 🔥

Big thanks to the staff that organised such a fun day and everyone who
joined us for a day full of footy and fantastic food! 🙌

Cameron discovers some more hidden gems!

Cameron's choice of activity was to visit Bendigo for the BLOOM Festival at
Rosalind Park. There was a vibrant array of colourful tulips, and ones that
were interactive and motion sensors that made displays come to life.

Afterwards, Cameron embarked on a walking tour of Bendigo, discovering two hidden gems.

One was an old school lunch experience at Ghosty's Diner and the other was
a walk to Indulge Chocolate Café. Cameron loved them both!

Cameron enjoyed a great day exploring in the sunshine with Independent Living Support Worker Jacquie from Distinctive Options.

What hidden gems have you discovered lately?

🌍🤟International Day of Sign Languages - 23 September

Today is the International Day of Sign Languages is a chance to celebrate the many ways we connect with one another. It honours the beauty of sign languages, the communities who use them, and the role they play in building a world where everyone belongs.

It’s also a reminder that language is never just words – it’s culture, identity, and connection.

In Australia we use Auslan. Here's video of "40 Key Auslan Sign in 5 minutes" to get you started to celebrate International Day of Sign Languages. 🌍👏

Would you like to learn a few Auslan signs (Australian Sign Language) so you can communicate with a Deaf person at your work, home area or school? Here’s 40 k...

Getting crafty!

🎨 At Distinctive Options Sunbury, the Pottery & Art Crew has been busy creating the best kind of chaos in the art room — and we’re loving every minute of it!

From week to week, we’ve been painting, gluing, glazing, fabric printing, and tie-dyeing our way through a colourful explosion of creativity.

From funky, functional ceramics and personalised art smocks to wildly decorated wind chimes and psychedelic tote bags that are almost too cool to carry — we’re turning mess into masterpieces… and having plenty of laughs along the way! 💫

Mark makes the most of his Independent Living Support with Distinctive Options by exploring new adventures in the community.

Mark recently visited Crown Melbourne to enjoy a game of mini golf at Holey Moley with support worker Mandy. The course here includes interactive games as well as mini golf - so you're mixing up the challenges at each and every station!

Aside from his city trip, Mark also enjoyed an outing to Morning Melodies in Sunbury with support worker Leesa, where he loved the live show and tasty lunch!

Banana Bread bonanza!

Corinne, Rachael, Amelia, Kiara and Katherine from Distinctive Options Sunbury chose to bake healthy banana bread together — and it turned into more than just a delicious treat. 💬✨

From measuring and mixing to decision-making and taste-testing, everyone played a part. Activities like this build life skills, improve self-confidence, support independence, and encourage teamwork.💛

Certainly worth celebrating with a slice of freshly cooked banana bread a hot cuppa!

Footy season final!!

A huge shoutout to Jack, Riley, Nam, Brooke, Harry, and Ben who proudly
represented Distinctive Options at the Reclink Australia AFL Grand Final! 🙌

The Sunbury Phoenix went head-to-head with the Geelong Powercats at
Peanut Reserve, St Kilda. Our crew showed amazing teamwork, epic skills,
and unbelievable support for their teammates on and off the field.

While the game didn’t go our way, spirits stayed high – especially when
Dyson Heppell, AFL legend, presented the medals! 🥇 ✨

Aiden was also thrilled to catch up with another AFL legend - Billy Brownless!

The smiles on everyone's faces reminded us that community sport is as much about participation, connection and friendship as it is about keeping fit and active.

A big thanks to Reclink Australia, support workers Olivia and Charli and to
all the family, friends, and staff who came to cheer the team on. 💛🔥

🌼 Festival time in Kyneton is blooming lovely! 🌼

Cameron took the lead in planning another brilliant day out — this time to the Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival! 🌼🎨

He was supported by Independent Living Support Worker, Jacquie, for a fun-filled adventure.

☕ First stop: A visit to hidden gem Pollen Café on High Street where they enjoyed a fantastic chai latté and admired the festival winning Best Scarecrow Fields Of Gold.

🌿 Next up: Exploring two beautiful open gardens, including a private garden and the stunning Malmsbury Botanical Gardens.

🌻 Cameron had a ball following the Scarecrow Trail, spotting some very clever and creative entries along the way!

Join in the fun this Sunday when the Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival holds its legendary Grand Parade in the main street at midday! Cameron will be there!
