"We didn’t expect a simple visit to mean so much — to them, and to us." Loneliness Awareness Week – Moments Matter

Most people will experience loneliness at some time and in some form throughout their lives. Those with a disability are often more isolated and especially susceptible to it.

Reaching out in even the smallest way can have a big impact — a text, a phone call, a video chat, or a quick visit. Anything that shows someone you care can truly lift their spirits.

Last week, we took our children to visit a few elderly friends, and we were genuinely touched by how much those visits meant. One person said they’d been looking forward to it all week. Another hinted at us coming back. One said it turned a bad day into a good one.

It made us want to create more of these moments — more often — to connect with the beautiful humans in our lives.

On Mother's Day, after working a long shift, Paddy took on an extra shift at short notice. To top it off, he had pre-arranged a Mother's Day gift with our Participant, so that the Participant could give it to his Wife. Paddy followed up by going to the shops in his own time between shifts to collect the gift so that our Participant could have a special day together with his Wife. Naturally, this had an impact on Paddy's personal plans for the day, but he was willing to rearrange his plans to help a Participant in need.

This is one of the many ways Paddy goes about quietly ensuring our Participants receive exceptional care. We’re incredibly lucky to have him, and others like him, on the team!

Wow! A super effort. What a weekend of charity walks! Read all about our amazing walkers and the causes we all support.

Bountiful Care is proud to support both the Coastrek and Kokoda Challenges through sponsorship and family participation.

Beyond Blue and Kokoda Youth Foundation charities have far reaching effects and the physical experience builds resilience, confidence, courage, endurance and mateship.

It was a joy and privilege to connect with teammates and support one another throughout our journeys.

Very proud of Grace & Poppy (48 km), August (96 km), and Rachel (50 km), with Pete on support and transport (4 trips up and down the coasts day and night).

Wow, what a weekend, but totally worth it!

It’s National Diabetes Week 🩺
Diabetes is on the rise in Australia and affects more than just blood sugar — it can impact many areas of health and contribute to other conditions.

At Bountiful Care, we support Participants living with diabetes every day — helping them manage their health and live well.

🩺 Early diagnosis and good management can help prevent serious complications like heart disease, kidney damage, and vision problems.

🏃🏽‍♂️ On Saturday, the Bountiful Care team braved the cold and early morning to join our first ever parkrun together. It was a great experience and it was made easier with friends.

Be Active with Bountiful Care – Join Us at ParkRun! 🏃‍♀️🌳

The Bountiful Care Team is heading to Robelle Domain ParkRun on Saturday 14 June – and we’d love for you to join us!

ParkRun is a free, 5km community event where you can walk, jog, run, wheel, or just come along to cheer. It’s all about fun, movement, and connection – and everyone is welcome, including participants, families, and support workers.

When: Saturday 14 June
Time: Meet us at 6.30am at the Lagoon car park (near the disabled car parks)
Where: Robelle Domain, Springfield Central
Register: parkrun.com.au/register

The course is on a paved path with gentle slopes, accessible for motorised wheelchairs and walkers with support. You don’t need to complete the full 5km – just go as far as you like!

🚐 Need help with transport? Limited spaces are available in the Bountiful Care vans – call the office to register.

Accessible Parking: There are four disabled car parks in the Lagoon car park just off Southern Cross Circuit. There are also 2 additional disabled car parks in the car park off Education City Drive.
