Collaboration gets tossed around a lot in the NDIS space, but what does it actually mean? For us, it’s pretty simple: collaboration is everyone working together with one goal in mind… the participant’s goals.

It’s not about one provider taking the lead or trying to be the “expert.” It’s about sharing knowledge, communicating openly, and making sure the person we’re all supporting has their voice heard at every step. When support workers, therapists, families, and support coordinators all pull in the same direction, things just flow better.

The best outcomes happen when we all stay curious, stay open, and remember why we’re here in the first place: to support people to live the lives they choose.

Meet Sienna, one of our dedicated disability support workers. 💜

We asked Sienna, “Why do you do the work you do?” and her answer truly touched our hearts.

“My name is Sienna and I’ve had a passion for caring since I was 10 years old. The day after his eighth birthday, my younger brother was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called Sanfilippo Syndrome. Since he was 13, our family has received help from support workers.

Now my brother is almost 19, and the support workers in his life have become like family. This incredible group of people are a huge reason why he’s able to live his life to the fullest. They celebrate and love him for who he is and are dedicated to giving him the best quality of life possible.

My brother has this amazing ability to remind everyone that even through hard times, there’s always a reason to smile. He and the support workers in his life are the reason I love this kind of work. I’ve experienced firsthand how powerful it can be when someone truly cares.

For me, being a support worker feels like an honour. It’s an honour to be someone that another family can depend on, especially during tough times. I want to give others the same quality of care and compassion that has made such a difference in my brother’s life and in ours as a family.” 💜

Thank you, Sienna, for all that you do and for inspiring us all.

It’s Disability Action Week, and the theme for 2025 is “Communicate. Connect. Create.”. The theme is a reminder to us that inclusion begins with the way we communicate.

We make accessibility part of how we work every day, from our website design, to the many ways we connect with participants and their families.

We know that clear, flexible communication helps people feel heard, understood and supported.

By continuing to improve how we share information and listen to feedback, we’re helping to build a more accessible and inclusive community for everyone. 💬🤝💙

There’s a FUNctional Market Day in Maroochydore on 30th November, from 10am to 3pm. For more information about this event, visit the website here: https://www.idpwd.com.au/event/1731457138/

🎣🌊 Reeling in smiles!

Our participant 'A' had an amazing day out fishing with his support workers. Not only was it a fun adventure, but it was also a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature, practice patience, and enjoy some quality time together. Days like these are what make every moment of support so special! 🐟

🎉 Proud moment!

One of our awesome teen clients has just started a Certificate in Commercial Cookery 👨‍🍳🔥

He's been working with one of our support workers who really understands him, and they’ve been cooking together at home, building up his skills and confidence.

This is what happens when the right supports are in place and the support worker is a great match. We’re so proud of how far he’s come and excited to see what’s next!

For many children, standard school holiday programs can feel overwhelming, especially when a quieter and more adaptable environment is needed.

That was the case for one of our participants, O, who often found it hard to feel comfortable and included in traditional settings.

Through Evercare’s Adventure Makers Program, O discovered a space that met unique needs: calm, flexible, and supportive. This allowed for creativity, fun, and the chance to connect with others in a way that felt safe and rewarding.

Stories like this remind us why we do what we do. Creating spaces where every child can thrive, belong, and feel proud of their achievements.

Meet Kim, one of our amazing disability support workers who brings laughter, energy, and a big heart to everything she does. 💚

We asked Kim what being a support worker means to her and this is what she said:

"For me, this work is about helping people live their best lives and truly living in the moment. One of the most special parts of my job is connecting with clients like AM, who has a small vocabulary. It really warms my heart when I listen and try to understand what he’s saying, sometimes it’s clear, sometimes it’s not. But when I guess the right words, the look he gives me says it all. It’s pure joy and appreciation, like he’s saying, “Thanks, mate, for listening and understanding me.”

We love having Kim on our team and knowing she get's to be part of all the wins, big or small. ☀️

Meet Josh, one of our incredible disability support workers!

We got to ask him "Why do you do this work?" and this is what he said...

"I got into this industry as in my previous roles, I became complacent and bored. I felt like I had so much more to give, and I cared so much about other people's well being. This is the first time in my life that I feel like I have found something that I truly belong to. It is a part of me.

It truly makes me happy to see people achieve goals and milestones. To see the smiles on participants faces and enjoyment out of the support I give, words can't describe the joy it brings in my life. I have thrived in this industry in such a short time and truly believe I will continue to do so. Individual support comes naturally to me and I excel because I genuinely love seeing people succeed and want to help them with everything that they do."

For Josh, it’s all about connection and purpose. Seeing people reach their goals and knowing he’s helped along the way, that’s what it’s all about. 🙌

This is why Josh does this work. 💚

Follow along over the next few weeks as we hear more stories from our amazing team.

This Movember, we’re celebrating Garry, one of our incredible support workers. 💙

After 40 years, Garry is shaving off his goatee to raise money and awareness for men’s health. He’s had it since he was 15! 🧔

For Garry, Movember isn’t just about facial hair, it’s about starting conversations around men’s mental health, breaking down stigma, and reminding others that strength means knowing when to reach out and ask for support.

We’re so proud of Garry for leading by example and showing what courage, care and community really look like. 💪

Mornings can be tough, especially when there’s a lot to juggle. One of our families came to us feeling completely overwhelmed with their morning routine. Getting ready for school felt like a daily battle.

With a bit of extra support from our amazing workers, mornings are now calmer, smoother, and happier. Our team took the time to really understand their unique needs, and now the whole family starts the day with a smile. 💛

We’re here to make everyday moments a little easier.
