How are you feeling today?

It’s one of the most common questions parents and carers ask during a meltdown, a tough day, or a moment that feels completely overwhelming.

When behaviours escalate, it’s easy to focus on what’s happening in front of you.

But in Positive Behaviour Support, we look deeper:

🧩 Why is this happening? What is the behaviour trying to communicate?

Behaviours of concern often happen when someone:
• Can’t communicate their needs
• Is overwhelmed by their environment
• Doesn’t yet have the tools to cope with big feelings

Behaviour Support isn’t about “fixing” someone.

It’s about understanding the “why” behind behaviours and helping families build strategies that make everyday life safer, calmer, and more predictable.

You don’t have to figure it all out alone. 🤝

📩 If your family or support team is struggling with behaviours of concern, our Behaviour Support team is here to help. Learn more: Evercare Positive Behaviour Support

Every child faces moments where something feels too hard.

In our art classes, we don’t rush past those moments—we work through them together.

✔ Breaking tasks into manageable steps
✔ Adapting activities to suit each child
✔ Encouraging persistence without pressure

Over time, kids start to realise:
‘I can do this… maybe just in my own way.’

That’s how resilience is built—slowly, safely, and with the right support.

Art isn’t just about making something that looks good.

It’s about:
✔ Building confidence in small steps
✔ Learning that it’s okay to try (and try again)
✔ Finding new ways to express thoughts and feelings
✔ Experiencing success in a way that feels meaningful

For many kids, especially those who need a more supportive environment, art can be a powerful way to build confidence and resilience over time.

That’s exactly what our Term 2 classes are designed for 💛

Not every piece needs to be finished.
Not every idea needs to be perfect.

Sometimes, the most important thing is simply:
✨ showing up
✨ trying
✨ enjoying the process

We encourage kids to love creating, without pressure or expectations.

Because when they enjoy the process, confidence and skills naturally follow.

Behind the Scenes – April Edition 👀🐣

April started the only acceptable way… with Easter chocolate and a well-earned break 🍫🐰
Because sometimes, you’ve just got to take what you need… and for us, that was definitely chocolate and rest 😌

Once the chocolate coma wore off, we were back into it:

📋 Monthly management meeting – reviewing, refining, and fuelling up on coffee ☕
📚 PEG & Dysphagia training refreshers – making sure our team stays confident, capable, and ready to deliver safe, high-quality support
💬 And the staff group chat? Still going strong as an unofficial NRL/AFL debate arena 🏉😅

Whether it’s sunlight, silence, rest, or community — we’re big believers in taking what you need to show up at your best. And behind every support session is a team doing exactly that: learning, improving, and supporting each other along the way 💙

We love giving you a peek behind the scenes of what helps us deliver great support every day.

💬 “Do I get a say in the Behaviour Support Plan?”

Absolutely.

Positive Behaviour Support works best when it’s collaborative.

That means the person, their family, and their support team are all part of the process.

Behaviour Support Plans are designed to work in real life, not just on paper.

That’s why we involve:
👨‍👩‍👧 Families
🏫 Teachers and schools
🤝 Support workers
🏥 Allied health professionals

Together, we create strategies that are:

✔ practical
✔ consistent
✔ realistic for everyday life

Because the people who know the individual best are a vital part of the solution.

Today we recognise World Parkinson’s Day, acknowledging the strength of people living with Parkinson’s and the important role of families and carers.

Meet Carys, another one of our amazing support workers. We asked her a few questions to get to know her better!

What’s your favourite part of working for us?
The people! 😊 Both the participants and the team. I really value how supportive and understanding Evercare is. I’m proud to be part of such an amazing team!

Favourite support memory?
One of my favourite memories is seeing a participant do something independently that they once needed support with. Watching someone’s strength and confidence grow over time is such a rewarding feeling. 🦋

What does good support mean to you?
Good support to me means listening, respecting choice and meeting people where they’re at! Being patient and empowering people to do things for themselves when possible. Creating positive relationships, environments and experiences whilst making a difference to people’s day-to-day life. 🥰

What’s something people misunderstand about being a support worker?
That it’s “easy” or just supervision. It actually takes a lot of emotional intelligence, patience, and responsibility to provide consistent, quality support.

What’s something you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy travelling, exploring new places, relaxing with good food, and spending time enjoying the little things after busy weeks. 🗺️

Do you have a fun fact about yourself or a special talent? I was born in the Canary Islands so I can speak Spanish! 🇪🇸

We truly love having Carys on our teams and supporting our participants!

🌍 World Health Day – 7 April

Health is more than medical care. As a disability service provider, we see how accessible supports help people maintain wellbeing, independence and quality of life.

This World Health Day, we recognise the importance of evidence-based care and working together to support healthier communities.

Did you hear we are now running Art Classes?!

Not every child thrives in busy, high-pressure environments—and that’s okay.

Our art classes are designed to be a place where kids can be their authentic selves. That means:
🎨 No pressure to be “perfect”
🎨 Freedom to explore their own ideas
🎨 A calm, supportive space where they feel safe

When kids feel safe, they open up.
When they open up, they create.
And that’s where the magic happens ✨

We’re now taking enrolments for Term 2 Art Classes.
Term 2 Starts May 2nd!
Small group, inclusive and supportive. Enquire via our website: https://www.evercaresupport.com.au/services/art-makers/
