One Million More Midwives are nothing without those who walk before us and alongside us.
This profession is rewarding, but it can also be extremely challenging. For someone who thoroughly enjoyed the social element that a workplace brought - stepping out into a space on my own brought a huge element of loneliness.
Then families started opening their homes, and midwifery connections started being made. It’s not lost on me how much of a privilege it is to call myself a midwife - regardless of what area I work in.
The work I do now, is some of the most “with woman” work I’ve done in my entire career. Here’s to postpartum midwifery and acknowledging its importance in shaping confident, empowered and supported parents.
