✨Everything we do has a direct impact on our lives. ‘As we sow, so shall we reap’
☀Briefly touching on the three modes of material nature according to the teachings of Ayurveda:
✨Sattva = the Mode of Goodness
Think fresh fruit, vegetables and grains, walks in nature, meditation practices.
✨Rajas = the Mode of Passion
Think spicy foods, stimulating foods such as onion and garlic, caffeine, busy, driven lifestyles.
✨Tamas = the Mode of Ignorance
Think processed foods lacking vitality, drugs (including alcohol), excessive consumption of tv, movies, media.
The teachings of Ayurveda help us to understand the modes of material nature around us and the direct effect that the environment we are in and the food and drink we consume has on our bodies and minds. These seemingly simple things are often overlooked, however can have such a big impact on our lives. There is a saying, ‘like increases like’, sometimes when we are more heavily influenced by a particular mode, it is more of that which got us there that we crave. For example, if we are in a heavy Tamasic state, it can sometimes feel a little hard to shift out of, in these circumstances, sometimes Rajasic activities will help shift this and prepare us to move more into cultivating the mode of Goodness.
If we are used to life being a particular way, change can feel hard, and that is ok. Maybe we have go-to habits when we are in a funk, or just in general, you can be sure that we all have our something. Changing our habits takes time and is not linear 🙏
By taking small, simple little steps to cultivate goodness in our lives, we can start to feel the direct effects of our choices. Some healthy habits can include:
🌿Implementing a mantra meditation practice (you can start with 5 minutes)
Let me know if you would like more info on this ☺️
🌿 Start your day with warm lemon water or herbal tea before the caffeine
🌿 Starting your day with a healthy meal
🌿 Some form of mindful movement daily, even if just 10-15 minutes
🌿 Schedule time in nature, if it cannot be daily, try make it once or twice a week
Namaste 🙏☀✨
