The Fear and Now Movie had made the Forbes list!!!

Looking forward to watching this amazing documentary, directed and produced by Liat Ron, a HypnoBirthing® mama🤰🏻and film director 🎬

The documentary sheds new light on the fear-based birth culture and proposes HypnoBirthing® - the original program created by Marie F. Mongan - as a solution ❤️.

It’s about time! Beware of imitations 😉.

As we celebrate this significant moment in the birthing community, it’s essential to recognize the value of education and informed choices. Want to learn more about how HypnoBirthing® can change your birthing journey? Don’t hesitate to reach out! Let’s create a positive and empowering experience together. 🌈

As a pregnancy yoga teacher, you can:

~ hold space
~ help ease physical discomforts during pregnancy
~ provide a nurturing environment that women need
~ educate and empower new mums
~ build networks and communities

🌸 This is a SACRED time - and why I am so PASSIONATE about creating classes dedicated to this wonderful, yet vulnerable time of a woman's life.

🌹 It is so important to emphasise that even though you will be leading and instructing the class, the student herself is actually the best teacher in the room for her body and her baby. Encouraging students to practice with kindness and compassion (ahimsa) is our duty as teachers.

🌼 Students must use this practice to become aware of physical discomforts and emotional issues and be prepared to accept any limitations - which can change daily. A pregnant woman wakes up with a new body every day! Connecting with these physical changes prepares her for the birth of her baby.

🪷 Trusting her intuition helps prepare her to make good decisions throughout her motherhood journey.

🪻 In your role working alongside women during a sometimes vulnerable time of their life, it is important not to share your opinions or beliefs, but rather steer them towards evidence based information and encourage them to come to their own decisions. This is important as there are a lot of decisions to make during pregnancy and often as Yoga Teachers, we are perceived to have all the answers. What might be right for one woman is not right for another.

🌻 Encourage your students to listen to their own intuition and to have trust in that inner voice ~ this will be their biggest asset as they journey through pregnancy, birth and the many years of motherhood and decision making that lay ahead.

The gift of yoga.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

❗️Safety is vital when teaching yoga to pregnant and postnatal women. I have had many conversations with students who have been injured in regular yoga classes.

💪 One woman shared with me she believed her regular Power Yoga class was the cause of her earlier miscarriage, where the teacher had modified poses, but not correctly.

👩 I remember having a student come to classes on crutches due to her chronic pelvic instability. Whilst she was unable to do many of the physical poses, she loved coming to class to focus on her breath, posture, baby and build connections with other pregnant women.

✋️ I've heard of other health professionals (eg. physios) advise women to avoid yoga during their pregnancy when they're experiencing certain conditions, assuming that yoga may injure them further (as can be the case in regular yoga classes).

🧘‍♀️ As a specialised Pregnancy Yoga teacher, you will be able to build your reputation and reassure these professions that you have the skills to modify poses for any medical conditions - ensuring that the wonderful holistic nature of yoga becomes accessible to ALL pregnant women, regardless of their limitations.

🎁 Yoga is a gift, especially to a pregnant woman and her unborn child - and everyone should have access to it. As long as we breathe, yoga can be practiced and can be adjusted according to people’s needs. Yoga has many benefits for pregnancy and it’s important to teach in a way that students feel safe, included and empowered.

👶 Skills women learn on their mat during their pregnancy will be skills to take with them all the way through into motherhood.

As yoga teachers know it is not all about the physical, let's get this valuable message out there!

🔆 Keep the student and baby safe from injury

🔆 Keep yourself safe as an instructor so women return to your classes and your referrals grow

🔆 Keep the name of Yoga itself safe to make the practice available to as many pregnant women as possible

👶 Modern women are living in a world of unprecedented levels of stress, which in turn is passed on to their babies. Studies show children as young as four are being diagnosed with depression and anxiety.

🌹 How a woman is made to feel during her pregnancy - and birth has a huge impact on her (and her baby’s) chemistry and physiology. As a Pregnancy Yoga Teacher, YOU can provide the space, the education and the nurturing environment that women can turn to during this time, helping them to feel grounded, focused and empowered.

🙏 Whilst we are here to help guide and support women through physical poses, our role goes much deeper. A woman’s body inherently knows how to grow a baby and how to birth a baby. With the over-medicalisation of birth, many women have lost touch with their own intuition, power and strength. Yoga provides valuable tools to help women come back to these qualities already within them - inner resources that all women are born with.

🌟 I have four spaces left in my next Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training, held on the Sunshine Coast in April 2025. Please send me a DM for all the details!

Group HypnoBirthing courses in 2025 will be available as a combination of in-person sessions PLUS live online sessions that you can attend from the comfort of your own home. I've been teaching this program and accompanying couples into their birth space since 2012 and have so much to share with you!!

Fear is the enemy of birth.

Fear is often viewed as one of the biggest barriers to a positive birthing experience. When we allow fear to take the forefront of our minds, it can lead to increased tension in our bodies, which in turn may heighten the pain experienced during labor.

Understanding this cycle—fear, tension, pain—can empower you to break free and embrace a more serene birthing process.

At our Childbirth Education program, we focus on equipping you with the tools to address and alleviate those fears. Through a combination of education, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness practices, we create a supportive environment that helps you address the challenges and anxieties surrounding childbirth. This isn’t just about learning the mechanics of labor; it's about fostering a mindset that allows your body to function optimally during this transformative experience.

Imagine entering your birthing space with confidence, feeling calm and in control. It’s possible! Join us to discover how you can shift your mindset, reduce anxiety, and prepare your body for a more empowering labor experience. Let’s work together to transform fear into strength. 💪✨

Women naturally start to slow down during the 3rd trimester, but they may still have days with high energy levels. Pelvic instability can intensify so it's important to check in with students before each class, a big part of your role as a Pregnancy Yoga Teacher is to nurture these women and in this trimester they need to feel held and cared for.

How a woman is made to feel during her pregnancy - and birth has a huge impact on her (and her baby’s) chemistry and physiology. As a Pregnancy Yoga Teacher, YOU can provide the space, the education and the nurturing environment that women can turn to during this time.

😴 Make sure Svasana is at least 20 minutes every class, this may be the first time in their day that they have had the chance to connect with their baby and fully let go of the demands of a busy life.

🎁 Yoga is a gift, especially to a pregnant woman and her unborn child - and everyone should have access to it.

🌿 As long as we breathe, yoga can be practiced and can be adjusted according to individual needs, including medical conditions or pregnancy discomforts.

🧘‍♀️ Yoga has many benefits for pregnancy and it’s important to teach in a way that students feel safe, included and empowered.

👩 Skills women learn on their mat during their pregnancy will be skills to take with them all the way through into motherhood.

As yoga teachers know, it is not all about the physical. My mission is to get this valuable message out there! Joymamma's fully accredited Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training has been created with an emphasis on safety and duty of care for graduates and the women they will be teaching. The training has been independently assessed and approved by Yoga Alliance and I would love to share this with you!

"When a soul enters the body, a baby's subconscious mind begins to develop and absorb a multitude of messages. During pregnancy, a woman is the first introduction her baby has to the outside world." Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa writes from her book: Bountiful, Beautiful, Blissful: Exploring the Natural Power of Pregnancy and Birth with Kundalini Yoga and Meditation.

The holistic nature of yoga affects all aspects of our being and the koshas provide a model for understanding these different levels.

As a specialised Pregnancy Yoga Teacher, including the 5 Koshas in your Pregnancy Yoga classes provides wonderful structure for a balanced, whole and complete experience on all levels - for both mother and baby.

🧘‍♀️ PHYSICAL BODY - Annamaya Kosha
🧘‍♀️ ENERGY BODY - Pranayama Kosha
🧘‍♀️ EMOTIONAL BODY - Manomaya Kosha
🧘‍♀️ INTELLECTUAL BODY - Vijnanamaya Kosha
🧘‍♀️ SPIRIT BODY - Anandamaya Kosha

Join my next Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training and you will observe and practice using this framework to confidently include it in every class you teach. This will set your classes apart from other classes that only focus on physical exercise.

If you are a yoga teacher and a pregnant student comes to your class, do you know how to keep her and her baby safe?

Do you know:

• the stages of pregnancy, when it is safe and not safe to practice yoga and how to modify poses for women at different stages of pregnancy?

• how pregnancy affects the spine, alignment and posture and how to teach safe ways to activate core stability, using the correct key muscle groups?

• which pranayama/breathwork is safe during pregnancy - and what should be avoided?

• which postures should be avoided for pregnancy and why they should be avoided?

• how to modify poses for pregnant women experiencing: fluid retention in ankles (oedema), heartburn or reflux, carpel tunnel syndrome, haemorrhoids, varicose veins, vulvul varicosities, sciatica, piriformis syndrome, pelvic girdle pain. low lying placenta, cervical incompetence, vaginal bleeding, breech baby, symphysis p***s dysfunction?

• which joints in the pelvis are prone to inflammation and how this can lead to instability during pregnancy and affect her physical practice??

• how major cardiovascular changes can affect a pregnant woman's body and how this can impact her practice?

🧘‍♀️🧘‍♀️🧘‍♀️🧘‍♀️🧘‍♀️🧘‍♀️🧘‍♀️

When a pregnant woman practices yoga safely and honours her own body's limitations and medical conditions, her practice can continue throughout her pregnancy.

If you would like to know more about my next in-person Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training on the Sunshine Coast, please send me a DM.
