✨ WE HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS! ✨
After a huge year of growth, learning and expanding our little community, You Are Home Support Services has officially evolved into Vela Care.

This new name represents everything we stand for - guidance, support, community, and helping people navigate life with confidence. The same heart, the same values… just a brighter, stronger direction forward.

New name. Same heart. Even bigger vision. 💙

As many of you know, our passion has always been supporting people to live safely, confidently and peacefully - whether that’s through Community Access, In-Home Supports, SIL, or supporting participants with complex needs or behaviour support plans. Over the past few years, we’ve grown into a strong, skilled team who truly thrive in this space.

After many years of experience in this space, it felt like the perfect time to step back into what I love and bring this service to our incredible community.

And there’s even MORE on the horizon…

🌟 We’re also commencing our application to join the My Aged Care space!
Supporting our seniors and bridging the gap between NDIS + aged care has always been something close to our hearts, and we can’t wait to expand our services.

🐾 At Vela Care, we know just how powerful the love of a dog can be.
Our furry friends play such an important role in supporting both our physical and mental wellbeing - and we’re proud to share that our team includes three friendly, lovable support dogs who are always ready to brighten someone’s day.
These good boys regularly visit our participants to bring joy, comfort and connection. They can even come along to hospital appointments or tough days out in the community to offer calm, reassurance and a little tail-wagging support. 💛
Whether you’d love some time with a dog, need a little extra comfort, or know someone who could benefit from the companionship of a four-legged friend without the responsibility of owning one, we’re here to help.

About to wrap up the day from our very first Disability Expo - it was so nice to connect with members of our kind and supportive community and see everyone working together to achieve the goal of greater inclusivity to those who really need it. If we met you there - thank you it was so nice to meet you! We so look forward to continuing to connect with our beautiful Sunny Coast community. We have immediate capacity to support community access, in home and supported independent living participants.🌸

We currently have one vacancy for a fully accessible SDA at a 1:2 SIL SIL ratio in the Coes Creek area. You will have your own room fully set up for high needs in a lovely quiet neighborhood. The house is pet friendly and large. Your housemate will be a lovely lady in her 50s. This house is set up for people with SDA funding but we are more than happy to have a chat and see if we can help if your not sure about the details.

You Are Home Support Services is so proud to offer one 1:2 SIL vacancy in a newly built and spacious Fully accessible SDA Home.

- Currently home to an easy going 55-year-old woman, she wants to share with either a male or female cotenant.

- House is fully furnished and ready to be lived in just bring your bed and personal belongings and we can work together to make the house your new home.

- Each bedroom features its own spacious ensuite as does the staff room so no need to worry about sharing your personal space.

- 24/7 SIL support with You Are Home Support Services.

- Home is bigger than your average SDA. Surrounded by trees it really offers peace and quiet but is only 5 minutes’ drive to Nambour Hospital.

Applications are open for our growing team on the Sunshine Coast! We are seeking committed and passionate casual Support Workers to take on the role of Community Access Support Workers picking up and dropping home one of our participants in Wurtulla- a lovely lady with a Traumatic Brain Injury and dementia. Shifts are Monday to Friday ideally from 9am - 2pm or 10am - 3pm. Shifts won't be rostered on public holidays however longer shifts can be rostered on weeks that have public holidays.
Additional shifts in participants SIL home will become available in the coming weeks for the right applicant.

What the participant hopes to achieve during community access:

- “I want to feel connected to my community and I have many things that I enjoy doing such as anything to do with animals such as dog grooming or farm days, 80’s 90’s music, Going to live music events as long as they aren’t too loud, Watching people dancing such as rock and roll dancing, line dancing or swing dancing, Hot rod cars, Op Shopping or any shopping in general, Going to beautiful beaches for fish and chips and people watching, going to dog parks to hang out with peoples dogs, I love watching people do things in general, I love coffee and going out for a good coffee or frappe but I don’t want my supports to only take me to cafes because then I get bored. I really enjoy it when my supports get creative and find me new events to go to. Recently I went to a Mardi gras party and I thought it was really good and I couldn’t do this all the time because I’m too old for it now but every now and then it’s really fun.”

A little more about the participant:

- Participant also has a cat who is temporarily staying in a cattery and she will need to be taken to visit with him once a week.
- The participant is a wheelchair user so applicants must be willing and able to lift the participants fold up manual wheelchair into their car for community access. These shifts must be completed in the community. They are not in home visits. If being out for 5 hours with a participant and getting creative with activities is not something you enjoy please do not apply. The participant will need you to push them in their manual wheel chair while in the community.
- Participant is a smoker - but will not smoke in your car only when out in public spaces.
- Participant does have unique communication needs as she has a paralysed trachea. Initially participant can use a communication board to write down what she is saying until you can better understand her communication style.

We need the applicants to be reliable as we are only a small team and rely on people to be accountable in order to be able to deliver the high level of support and care we do. In return we promise to give you a safe and harmonious work environment where we are all purpose driven to not only improve the quality of participant lives but also of the lives of each other. We want work to be something you genuinely look forward to doing.

We are only as good as the support we offer and if our support workers don't love coming to work then chances are our participants will not be loving the support they are receiving.

Vacancies are available in some of our Gympie NDIS SIL (Supported Independent Living) homes. Also available to ILO, MTA and STA participants. Are you or someone you support looking for an established home with plenty room to roam and explore? You Are Home are ready to speak with you about how we can tailor your supports to live the life that makes you feel at home. This is a unique centrally located fully fenced property on a large block of land; it’s more than just a house. With it’s established gardens, pool, creek and fishpond it truly will give the people who live here a place to call home. The homes are centrally located just 1 minute from Mary Street, 2 minutes from Gympie Hospital and walking distance to a convenience store.

If an accessible ground level home with an accessible bathroom is more appropriate for your needs, there is one vacancy downstairs at a ratio of 1:2 sharing with a 54-year-old female. Any gender will be considered as this participant doesn’t mind the gender of her housemate.

Upstairs we have a separate 3-bedroom home with a separate laundry, kitchen, bathroom, entertaining area and yard. This is available at a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio.

Applications are open for our growing team in Gympie! We are seeking a committed and passionate human to take on the role of Support Worker in one of our beautiful SIL homes working alongside a lovely lady with a Traumatic Brain Injury.

Additional shifts to become available in the coming months for the right applicant but initially we are seeking someone to join our team from 11am to 5pm on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays on a consistent roster.

We need the applicant to be reliable as we are only a small team and rely on people to be accountable in order to be able to deliver the high level of support and care we do. In return we promise to give you a safe and harmonious work environment where we are all purpose driven to not only improve the quality of participant lives but also of the lives of our support workers. We want work to be something you genuinely look forward to doing.
