A really meaningful meeting today with Anita Kenny from Metropolitan Memorial Parks as we mapped out a calendar of gatherings for our new initiative, Talking About Life Café.
Together, we’re creating space for both informative evenings and relaxed, free-flowing conversations — the kind where people can talk openly about topics around life, loss, and everything in between, without pressure or expectation.

Join us in an informal and welcoming space to explore life, loss, and everything in between over a cuppa, with a friend.

At our 'Talking About Life Café', we gently open the door to conversations we don’t often make time for — sharing stories, perspectives, and reflections about anything end of life in a relaxed, supportive setting. No agenda, no expectations — just real conversations about what matters most.

Death Cafés started in 2011 in the UK. It's a global initiative that has grown more than 19426 Death Cafes in 93 countries since September 2011. People who attend commonly say that being able to speak openly and share experiences in a compassionate environment has been a source of comfort and reassurance that they're not alone. Yes 'death' is a harsh word so we do try to speak in terms that attendees would rather use because we'd rather meet them in their space.

The initiative itself is called Death Café and is growing in popularity across Australia x

We look forward to seeing you there.

Tonight's death café was an enlightening gathering, where experiences were shared in an open and non-judgemental space. People came from a wide cross section of our community, so we were able to learn from their stories which varied from person to person. Newcomers felt safe and supported as they spoke from the heart at their first ever death café. We never pressure anyone to talk, and give attendees the option to simply sit and listen. It was our first time to hold our death café at The Lodge, Woronora Memorial Park, which was a beautiful, comfortable environment, and we're so looking forward to future gatherings there.

Photo below doesn't show everyone who attended as we respect their wishes.
