World diabetes day 2022 - a day when we come together to raise awareness of diabetes and how it affects millions of people around the globe. A big reason I made my page to be able to raise awareness everyday but there is something special about today.
Thought it was only right I made my own post today!
I just want to start by sending all my love to those living with diabetes. Those caring or loving someone that lives with diabetes. My love goes far and wide to all my warriors out there 💙
2022 has been a history making year for our community in Australia! FINALLY the government introduced subsidised CGM’s to those living with type 1. This has taken the cost from $330 per month to $32.50 per month.. say what?!! Now let’s keep up the good fight to have this WORLDWIDE!
2022 we have also recently seen the government fund the Ominood dash system that aussies fought so hard to get after it being rejected for years. These are such positive signs for our community and making what WE NEED affordable. The day we don’t have to sacrifice food or paying a bill just so we can have 2 weeks of ??’good control’??
2022 I have gone through my 20th year living with T1D. I have endured my 5th year of diabetic retinopathy. I have traveled. I have let go. I have reflected. I have changed cgm systems. I have changed pump systems. Through it all I have grown and learnt so much about ME, the life I am in and the body I manage everyday.
Wise words from JRRF - No matter how long it’s been since your diagnosis, it’s always worth learning new tips on treatment and management, catching up with the latest research, and getting in touch with people and organisations who can help make your life easier.
Happy world diabetes day! Let’s not just live but thrive living with type 1 diabetes (until we obv find a cure 😅)
