I think it's really important to view yoga as a lifelong learning experience. Part of this process for me has been unlearning some of the things I've been taught in studios and relearning from people who share an authentic version of yoga.

The people listed here are all worth following for different reasons, so if you're keen for specific recommendations, let me know.

Also, if you think there's anyone I'm missing, I'd love to hear from you.

Image Two says, "Let me know if you have any favourites I should follow as well..."

Hello! I thought I should introduce myself, seeing as I haven't shown my face on here as yet.

I'm Grace. My pronouns are she/her. I live on Dharug country (Lower Blue Mountains) with my partner and toddler. Some of my favourite things are (in no particular order) my family, books by Arundhati Roy or Michael Ondaatje, music by Paul Kelly or The Waifs, cricket, rugby league, bushwalks, tofu burgers and TV shows or movies in which people are nice to each other.

I don't really plan to post many pictures of myself on here as I'd like to try to avoid contributing to the narrative of yoga as a competitive, performative practice. I also don't think the world needs to see more pictures of someone who looks like me doing asana (postures/shapes/poses).

I aim to share a yoga practice that empowers people to develop a deeper connection to their breath and body. I hope to be able to honour the roots of this beautiful body of knowledge by incorporating pranayama and meditation into my classes. My knowledge of Sanskrit is woefully limited, but I am attempting to include Sanskrit terms for asana in my teaching. I am still figuring out whether it is appropriate for me to set intentions for other people as part of the classes I teach, and how to encourage people to learn more about the yamas and niyamas.

My current personal practice is focused on trying to move beyond asana: to learn more about the yamas and niyamas; to try to contribute to breaking down the harmful structures of colonisation, racism, ableism, commodification and commercialisation that pervade modern yoga in the West; and to listen to and learn from people who have different lived experiences from my own.

Some podcasts I've been listening to recently are 'Let's Talk Yoga' by and . I have learnt so much from these so far and hope to be able to do the work to apply some of this learning.

I would really like to encourage feedback and advice from people, so please feel free to get in touch.
