Recently, Hilda and Senay visited one of our participants' home.

It was a great opportunity to dedicate some time to art and craft activities, especially as this participant has a real love for it. Plus, she is a massive collector of squishies.

The focus of this session was to help her gain more confidence in participating in group activities, all within the comfort of her own home (especially as she often needs assistance & extra support with group settings).

Also, the gals here at Connex Life - Hilda, Senay, Raf - are getting into the Christmas spirit . With some much needed Christmas shopping for Connex Life and our participants.

Last Friday, Hilda arranged for our camera shy participant Candy, her Community and Social Participation activity.

It involved traveling to Chinatown and enjoying some Taiwanese food. Followed by a craft activity at Cuddly Craft in Camperdown, where the pair made their own Cream Gel Mobile cases.

Candy is working on her anxiety when socialising with others. This activity was a great success - as Candy was quite talkative, interacted with others in the class, and embraced her creativity.

Each week Hilda works closely with Candy via organising community and social participation activities, where she can learn new skills and gain more confidence in communicating with the community.

For Senay and our participant Bronte, Monday's are specifically dedicated to Social Community Access.

What is Social Community Access in a nutshell?

The aim of this support and engaging in Community Activities offers many benefits to Bronte and others, like:

Friday the 13th, was a big day for us, with 2 of our participants celebrating their Birthdays! 🎂

Our lovely Bronte turned 21, which had to be celebrated with a bang and all glitz!

Bronte was pampered in morning by make up professional followed by a house party at one of our Associate Provider's Raven Community. Their was lots of food, sweets, drinks, laughter and dancing from Bronte.

The celebrations did not stop there, with Bradd also having his birthday (no need to share the age). A few in the Connex Life team visited Bradd at his home, Dennis his Support Worker, Senay, Rafal and Hilda. And yes, there was more cake!

Both participants had a wonderful day and loved to be supported by the Connex Life team.

At Connex Life we are all about offering the right support.

Meet our participant, Bradd.

Bradd loves fishing, and often visits his favourite spot at Gladesville.

We are supporting Bradd, who is a recent stroke survivor and fishing has been a great hook (pun intended) on his road to recovery. With regular planned Wellbeing sessions, in this case fishing, it has assisted Bradd in (re)connecting with the community, communication skills, safety awareness and overall mental health.

This particular Wellbeing session was a success, as we had caught leather jackets and cooked them at the local park BBQ facilities.

Participant Spotlight - let's share with you a bit more about Evan and his journey.

We are supporting and working with Evan on his goals, to become more confident in the community, and in new environments. Some activities include traveling to different places around Sydney, the logistics around travel management and overall communication.

Additionally, Evan has had multiple trials in ADE employment and has been accepted to work at Endeavour (Mount Druitt) with supported employment starting next year. Congratulations Evan! 🎉

Meanwhile, we will continue to work with Evan on gaining more confidence especially when visiting new places, communicating in different social settings and community safety awareness.

Here's a small wrap-up from our recent Friday activity, which took us to Blaxland Riverside Park.

It was overall an relaxing day and perfect opportunity to remind our participants the importance of Health and Wellbeing.

We also celebrated our Support Coordinator & PsychoSocial Recovery Coach Birthday. Rafa was spoilt and treated with a little surprise from the Team. Happy birthday Rafa! 🎉
