This week at our Keeping Mum Mothers group, we enjoyed a beautiful baby massage session with

Mums learnt simple, gentle massage techniques they can use at home to help soothe, settle, and connect with their babies. It was a beautiful opportunity to build confidence, learn new ways to support their little ones, and enjoy some calm bonding time together 💛

Registrations for term 3 will be opening in a couple of weeks, so keep your eyes on our page 👀

💫 I still remember those newborn days when…

We’d had a terrible night
I felt so lonely, yet was never alone
I didn’t know myself anymore
The nights felt so long
My body didn’t feel like mine
I was getting so much advice, I didn’t know what was right
My ni***es were cracked and my breasts we’re sore
I’d cry everyday thinking I wasn’t a good enough Mum

✨I also remember the newborn days when…

My baby looked at me and smiled for the first time
I was brave enough to leave the house for some fresh air and sunshine
We both had a good nights sleep
I attended my first Kangatraining class and realised I wasn’t alone in this journey
It started getting easier
I found confidence in myself again
The fog started to lift
I laughed again

The newborn days are some of the hardest and most beautiful days all at once, and before you know it, they’re too big to carry in your arms, but you’ll still carry those memories with you forever 💙💙

Today is Kangaroo Care Day and the theme for 2026 is “Stillness is Strength”

On 8th June 2016 I was booked in for a Caesarean section after complications from my first birth, but went into spontaneous labour that morning which resulted in an emergency c-section.

When bub was born he required intubation and ventilation with 10 mins of CPR, and adrenaline. He suffered multi organ failure, Hypoxic Ischaemic Encephalopathy, seizures, hypotension and more. He also needed a blood transfusion and platelet transfusion. The NETS team came to stabilise him before transferring him to Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick. I had to stay behind until the following evening. I couldn’t believe I still hadn’t been able to cuddle my baby and he had been taken to another hospital without me.

When I finally got transferred I couldn’t believe what I was seeing or hearing. My baby had tubes, wires and drips everywhere and it was touch and go.

Come day 5 and a lot of tears later, I was finally able to hold my precious bundle. He was still on CPAP and still very unwell but this was a massive step for us and I will never forget that moment! I had never heard of Kangaroo Care until then. I got to lay back on the chair and snuggle him inside my shirt. As soon as I felt that skin to skin contact something told me that things were going to be ok. I spent every moment I could there with him laying on my chest.

Kangaroo Care helped me cope during this time. It helped me bond with my baby. Feeling his soft skin on mine was such an amazing feeling and he always looked so contented having snuggles 🥰

May is a very special month for our Kangatraining Australia team as we remember Jacqui Wait.

Jacqui was an amazing woman, Mum of 2 and the first ever person to sign up to be a KT in Australia completing her Kanga course in round one, back in June 2013. She ran Kangatraining Bendigo in Victoria.

Jacqui was diagnosed with bowel cancer and passed away on May 13th in 2015, leaving behind her wonderful husband and two little children, Ada & Harry.

During the month of May we run our • GO WACKY FOR JACQUI • sessions where our KTs and Kanga Mums dress up in honour of one of the original Kangatraining Instructors.

We would love if you could dress up in bright colours, as wacky as possible for our Kanga class on 19th May as we dance to a few of Jacqui’s choreos 🎶

Wishing all the mums and mother figures out there a happy Mothers Day! 💐
