High functioning anxiety can be like a double edged sword… It helps drive you to a great level of success, however the process doesn’t come easy.

Earlier this year I opened up to a friend at my local surf club about my struggles with anxiety and journey coming out of depression, and they were incredibly shocked. Why? Because it isn’t something they noticed at surface level.

This is a great article highlighting high functioning anxiety & how you can be mindful of others that may have it ❤️

High-functioning anxiety is a hidden problem for those who live with anxiety but can function at work and in relationships. Learn the signs, causes, and treatments.

Strolling through the lovely orchids of Bilpin 🍎

I went on a girls trip a few weekends ago and it reminded me about the power of connection & being present. We had limited service & I took full advantage of it, only looking at my phone before we went to sleep at night.

I’m really trying to practise being in the moment when conversing with other people, so having no phone really helped with this.

When was the last time you switched off? 🔌🔋

Sometimes the little wins get forgotten about when we're going about our day to day lives as they may seem insignificant.

✨ That to-do list you wrote? Did putting pen to paper help you put all your thoughts in one place, allowing your mind to destress?

✨ The meal prep you may be doing tonight? Your future self will most likely thank you for being organised.

✨ That rest day you took? Did you feel recharged and have time to catch up on things you've been putting off for a while?

✨ That friend you haven't spoken to in weeks? How nice does it feel to reach out?

What small (but big) achievements can you celebrate today?

Everyday should be 🖤💛

Today is a lovely reminder to check in with your mates from time to time. In todays society, we often see people living happy lives through the screen, but you never know what’s going on behind the scenes….

🥂Those drinks that someone’s at? Yeah well they have had social anxiety all week leading up to it

🏋️‍♀️ That gym class that they posted about? They barely made it out of bed this morning due to depression

💐Those flowers that they bought themselves? It’s the only thing that was able to brighten up their week

Let’s continue to dive deeper in our conversation to make them more meaningful, you never know it could save someone’s life.

The Body Keeps The Score is my absolute holy grail of books and here’s why…💭

If you haven’t read it, it’s not a light read. It’s taken me a good year to listen to the audio book version, because I always need to be in the right headspace to listen and process everything Dr Van Der Kolk is saying (and that’s okay - everyone has their own way of doing things 😊)

The book is about how overwhelming experiences affect the development of the brain, mind and body awareness, all of which are closely intertwined.

Trauma can change the makeup of your brain and can put you in a constant state of arousal where the event hasn’t been processed, leading to the brain thinking it’s still happening in the present.

When we understand how our past can impact our present (in the mind and body), we slowly begin to develop understanding and compassion for ourselves and those around us.

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think? Leave a comment below 💭✨

Whether you’ve just woken up or you’ve have had a sh*tty day, have a think about three things that you’re thankful for.

Leave a comment below with what they are 👇🏼🥰

Quite often we forget the little things that bring us joy in our day to day lives. It’s only 7am for me currently but mine was being able to foam roll on the balcony of my gym (outdoors), unpack the dishwasher so my fiancé didn’t have to and also having time to write this post before work.

Practicing gratitude can make the simple things joyful 💕💕

💭 “I feel bad for saying no to plans this weekend”

Why are we feeling bad for doing what’s best for ourselves? I feel the guilt all the time and it’s something I need to let go of, but good things take time, right? 😅🤍

We all know it’s important to set boundaries in the relationships we have, but it can be tough to follow through. I have to admit, I don’t like to schedule plans months in advance because I never know how I’ll be feeling when the time comes. I feel a lot of guilt for not reaching out to people to organise plans, but I tend to really cherish my weekends being calm and relaxed after a busy week in the office.

In a few months time this might change I may want to go out all time time, we’re all at different stages.

Remember to do what’s best for yourself and try to go easy on yourself with the guilt - your friends will want you to do what’s best for you at the end of the day ☺️❤️
