“NEW YEAR, NEW ME”
I think the #1 single biggest reason people don’t stick to their New Years exercise goals is because they’re often based around looking a certain way or seeing a certain number on the scales, not lifestyle changes and building healthy habits 🧱
Then, if/when they reach the number on the scales they’re finished, jobs done, mission accomplished, and they can go back to their old lifestyle that originally got them overweight or unhappy 🙁
Working in gyms/clinics the last 8 years has meant my January’s always consist of multiple conversations around the goal to ‘lose weight, tone up and lose belly fat’
There is absolutely nothing wrong with that as a goal, but it’s often the ‘all or nothing’ approach that has major downfall 💯
When they come in motivated as anything to completely change their diet and workout 6 days/week. It’s often not even February when they realise that the chicken and broccoli diet is not sustainable (or enjoyable), motivation drops off and then they’re right back where they started📉
For any exercise-based New Year’s Resolutions, my advice is to undershoot, make your goals realistic, achievable and set yourself up for success ✅
The second slide shows a list of benefits of exercise that have nothing to do with how you look.
A friendly reminder that the benefits of exercise go far beyond how you look and what you weigh, and pretty much everything improves when you move your body regularly, exercise is for everyone!
If you’re looking to make some changes in the New Year and after some advice, shoot me a message and we can set some realistic, achievable goals to build some momentum for a big 2023! 🎉
Exercise isn’t a punishment, it’s a privilege ✊🏼
