This weekend, our online yoga students at Winston Hills Yoga classes explored Thread the Needle pose, a gentle yet deeply effective shoulder opener that invited both release and reflection. From a tabletop position, they slid one arm underneath the chest, palm facing up, allowing the upper back and shoulders to soften toward the mat. As the spine gently twisted, breath became the guide—slow inhales creating space, long exhales encouraging tension to melt away.
Many students noticed how deceptively simple the pose feels, yet how powerfully it works into the shoulders, neck, and upper back—areas where we often carry stress without realizing it. With options to stay lifted or rest the head and shoulder, everyone was able to find a variation that felt supportive and grounding.
Thread the Needle offered a moment to pause, unwind, and reconnect, setting a calm, centered tone that carried through the rest of the practice and into the weekend beyond.
