Daily Habits to Support Your Summer Wellbeing 🔆🏖

The festive season can be uplifting and also overwhelming. Summer is governed by the Heart in Chinese Medicine, which thrives on joy, connection, and rhythm but can quickly become unsettled if we do too much, too fast.

Here are five simple things you can do this week to restore balance:

🌿 1. Rest with purpose
Try a short afternoon nap, read under a tree, or book a calming acupuncture session. You don't need to earn rest. Your Heart needs it.

💧 2. Stay hydrated and eat cooling, red or bitter foods
Think watermelon, cucumber, berries, bitter greens like kale or rocket, and tomatoes. These foods help calm Heart fire and support digestion.

💤 3. Prioritise sleep
Try winding down with no screens after 9pm, herbal teas like chamomile, or our favourite breathing technique: hand on heart, hand on belly, ten slow deep breaths while gently circling the chest.

🍹 4. Reimagine your drinks
Mocktails with lime, mint, and sparkling water are festive and supportive. Add strawberries or cucumber for a delicious touch.

💛 5. Connect with people who lift you up
Whether it’s a walk with a friend, a phone call, or sending a message to someone you miss, nourishing your Heart also means nurturing your emotional connections.

At this time of year, simple rituals make all the difference.
What supports your summer wellbeing?

Curious about what TCM experts have to say about acupuncture in IVF? 🤔

It's all about DOSE - would you take just 2 antibiotics out of a course?

Studies spanning a decade reveal it may be a matter of dosage. It's the consistent acupuncture treatments during IVF that offer better results.

According to Metanalysis in 2019 and 2023 IVF acupuncture suggests:
👉 3-4 Acupuncture treatments before and around embryo transfer are minimum doses to Improve Clinical Pregnancy rates

👉 9-12 Acupuncture treatments (of WSTCM Whole Systems Chinese Medicine which includes herbs and diet advice) in weeks/ months before and around embryo transfer significantly increase Live Birth rates 61.3% (Hullunder 2015)

👉 Embryo Transfer acupuncture particularly advantageous to those who have low pregnancy base line ( i.e TAKEN AGES TO CONCEIVE)

If you’d like to understand what the research really says we’ve broken it down in our blog.

For many of us, the end of year means full calendars, late nights, long lists, and high expectations. While summer is traditionally a time of joy and celebration, it can also be a season where Heart fire burns a little too brightly and leaving you feeling frazzled, overwhelmed, or emotionally drained.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Heart thrives on rhythm, rest, and authentic connection. When those foundations slip, our nervous system often feels the impact first.

Here are a few gentle ways to support your Heart and reclaim your calm this season:
• Create boundaries with your calendar. It is okay to say no
• Start your day with grounding practices. Even ten minutes of quiet breathing or journaling can help
• Consider acupuncture to support nervous system regulation and emotional balance
• Choose joy that restores you, not just socialising that depletes you
• Eat nourishing foods and stay well hydrated

Festive does not have to mean frantic. Joy is far more sustainable when your Heart feels supported.

If you are feeling stretched thin, our team across Sydney CBD, Alexandria, Westmead, Central Coast, Melbourne, and Mornington are here to support you through the season with calm, considered care.

🎄Here’s the survival guide to Christmas Holidays! 🎄

The holiday season can be a lot: the food, the family, the never-ending events. But if you’re also trying to conceive, it can feel like juggling a million emotions at once.

Don’t worry, I’ve got your back! Here are some top tips for keeping your mental well-being in check during this festive (and sometimes stressful) time of year:

🤲 Set Boundaries on Fertility Talk: If you’re tired of well-meaning but exhausting fertility conversations, it’s OK to set some boundaries. Politely redirect or steer the conversation to something more lighthearted!

🎊 Celebrate Your Achievements: Whether it’s a personal milestone or simply getting through another tough week, take a moment to celebrate YOU. You’re doing amazing things.

🧘‍♀️ Prioritise Self-Care: Between all the holiday hustle, make time for YOU! Whether it’s a peaceful meditation session, reading a book, or soaking in a relaxing bath, give yourself permission to recharge.

🎁 Set Realistic Expectations: The holidays can bring up all sorts of emotions. It’s OK to feel excited, stressed, or even sad. Acknowledge what you’re feeling without judgment—your journey is uniquely yours.

🎉 Manage Social Engagements: Not every holiday event will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy. Choose wisely—attend the ones that uplift you, and don’t be afraid to leave early or say no if you need to.

💑 Communication is Key: Share your thoughts and expectations with your partner. Talk openly about what you need during this season, and keep that connection strong. Teamwork makes the dream work!

Remember, your mental health matters, especially when you’re on the TTC journey. So, give yourself permission to navigate the holiday season in a way that feels right for you. 💚

You’ve got this!

The first trimester often feels like you are holding a huge secret while your whole world is shifting underneath you.

You might feel excited, scared, overwhelmed or just bone tired. And you are still showing up to work, sitting at family lunches, maybe even hiding morning sickness at a Christmas party. It can feel strange and isolating.

From the outside it might not look like much is happening. But inside, your body is building a whole new system. Hormones are surging. Your nervous system is working hard to keep up.

This is real work. And it deserves real support.

Here are some things that can help in these early weeks:
✔Eat small meals regularly. An empty stomach can make nausea worse. Also try to have protein and low GI snacks to stabilize blood sugar. Keep snacks nearby if that works for you. Herbal teas like ginger or peppermint might help too

✔Let yourself rest. This isn’t just being tired. Your body is working overtime. If you need to sleep early or cancel plans, that is valid

✔Mood shifts are very normal. This is a big change. Movement, slow breathing and calm support can help bring things back into balance

✔Stick with warm, easy to digest foods. Soups, porridge, cooked vegetables. Cold and raw meals can be harder to tolerate right now.

Many people come for acupuncture during the first trimester to help ease nausea, improve sleep and support their nervous system through all the change. But just as often, they come because they need space to rest and feel looked after.

If you are experiencing Nausea in pregnancy get in contact or check out blog on this.

You are doing more than it seems. Your body is carrying something big, and you do not have to do it all alone

Exploring Chinese Medicine’s Take on Summer Emotions 🌿

In Chinese medicine, Summer is connected with the Fire element, which relates to the Heart. This isn’t just the physical heart, but the wider Heart system, the part of us that governs joy, connection, expression, warmth and emotional vitality. So it makes sense that Heart-related emotions like joy, happiness and elation tend to surface more at this time of year. Sounds lovely, right?

Well… yes, when the Heart is in balance.
A balanced Heart ⚖️ may be felt as joy, steady emotional warmth, easy connection with others and a bit of a high!

However, an imbalance in heart may manifest as feeling flat, lack of joy, or social detachment or and sense of anxiety or mania. 😟

Most of us experience a blend of all of these emotions, and that’s completely normal. But if you find yourself feeling out of sync, there are supportive ways to steady things.

🤔 Strategies for Heart Balance:
💚Sleep Prioritisation: reduce stimulant and alcohol intake for improved sleep quality.

💚Relaxation Modalities: Consider therapeutic interventions such as massage or acupuncture, fostering relaxation.

💚 Mindful Breathing: Engage in a controlled breathing exercise coupled with a deliberate smile to induce a grounded and relaxed state.

💚 Nature Connection: Foster awareness and gratitude through contemplative walks in natural surroundings, contributing to mental composure.

If you’re feeling out of balance this Summer and would like gentle, supportive care, our team is here to help. We have six clinics across Sydney CBD, Alexandria, Westmead, Gosford, Melbourne and Mornington, and many patients seek acupuncture during this season to support emotional regulation, rest and overall wellbeing.

Our Story

The Acupuncture Pregnancy clinics (incorporating the original Acupuncture IVF Support clinics) in Sydney and Melbourne and the Central Coast are the first of their kind in Australia. The first clinic was established in 2008 in response to evidence from clinical trial results which demonstrated some benefits of acupuncture for IVF patients. Since then we have seen more than 12,000 patients.

Professional integrity, best practice and offering appropriate clinical programs are a priority for us – in a field where patients can sometimes be very vulnerable. We see couples or single women who are trying to conceive, whether with IVF or naturally. Many of our patients, once they conceive, like to be looked after during their pregnancies and helped with labour preparation too.
