If you’ve never had acupuncture before, it’s completely normal to feel unsure or nervous before your first appointment.

Your initial consultation usually involves a detailed discussion about your:
• menstrual cycle
• fertility history
• symptoms
• general health
• lifestyle
• goals and concerns

In Chinese Medicine, practitioners look at the body as a whole system rather than focusing on just one symptom alone.

Your practitioner is often trying to identify potential barriers to reproductive health and understand patterns within the body that may be contributing to cycle irregularities, stress, hormonal imbalance, sleep issues, digestion, or overall wellbeing.

This may include discussing:
• stress and nervous system health
• sleep quality
• diet and nutrition
• energy levels
• menstrual symptoms
• lifestyle factors

Treatment is then tailored to the individual.

Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are commonly used to support balance within the body and may assist with reproductive health, cycle regulation, stress management, and overall wellbeing.

Many patients describe sessions as deeply relaxing and appreciate having dedicated time to slow down during what can often feel like a stressful and emotionally demanding journey.

Patients also frequently tell us they feel more informed and empowered after learning about changes they can make to support their health, wellbeing, and fertility.

When do patients commonly use acupuncture during IVF?

Acupuncture is commonly used at different stages throughout fertility treatment, depending on the individual, their health history, and where they are in their IVF cycle.

Some patients begin treatment during preconception care before starting IVF. This stage often focuses on supporting overall health, menstrual cycle regulation, stress management, sleep, digestion, and reproductive health before stimulation begins.

Others seek acupuncture support:
• during ovarian stimulation
• during a frozen/thaw cycle
• before and after embryo transfer
• throughout the IVF process

Different stages may involve different treatment approaches and goals.

Research has explored how acupuncture may assist with:
• nervous system regulation
• stress and cortisol response
• blood flow to the reproductive organs
• relaxation during IVF treatment
• supporting overall wellbeing during fertility care

Many patients also seek acupuncture because IVF can feel emotionally and physically overwhelming. Sessions often become an opportunity to slow down, rest, and feel supported throughout treatment.

Here at Acupuncture Pregnancy Clinic, treatment plans are tailored to the individual and coordinated around each patient’s IVF timeline and goals.

IVF can feel highly structured, medical, and emotionally demanding.

For many patients, appointments, medications, scans, and timelines can quickly become overwhelming — which is why some people look for additional ways to support their body and wellbeing throughout the process.

Acupuncture is commonly used alongside IVF treatment and research has explored whether it may assist with:
• stress and nervous system regulation
• relaxation during treatment
• circulation and reproductive health support
• overall wellbeing throughout IVF

Many patients also tell us acupuncture sessions become a dedicated opportunity to slow down, rest, and feel supported during what can otherwise feel like a very clinical experience.

At APC, treatment plans are tailored to the stage of your IVF cycle and your individual health history, symptoms, and goals.

Acupuncture uses very fine needles
and most patients feel minimal discomfort.

Many people actually feel deeply relaxed during treatment.

If you’re unsure or anxious
it’s always okay to ask questions before your first session. We also offer minimal needling and laser acupuncture for those needle shy.

PCOS officially has a new name.

It is now called:

PMOS : Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.

The change followed an international global consensus process involving researchers, clinicians and women living with the condition.

Why was the name changed?

Because the term “PCOS” was considered inaccurate.

The research group stated the old name:
• focused too heavily on ovarian cysts
• overlooked endocrine and metabolic features
• contributed to delayed diagnosis
• increased stigma and fragmented care

PMOS better reflects the whole-body nature of the condition, including:
✔️ hormone imbalance
✔️ insulin resistance
✔️ irregular ovulation
✔️ inflammation
✔️ metabolic health changes

For women trying to conceive, this matters.

At Acupuncture Pregnancy Clinic, we take an integrative approach to supporting women with PMOS/PCOS using:
• Acupuncture
• Electro-acupuncture (Often used to support regular ovulatiuon)
• Chinese medicine ( Herbal Medicine including Our own PCOS/ PMOS Herbal Formulas)
• Diet and lifestyle support

Research has explored how electro-acupuncture may help regulate cycles and support ovulation induction in women with PCOS.

Trying to conceive with PMOS/PCOS?

Our team is here to support your fertility and reproductive health alongside your medical care.

Trying to conceive isn’t just about timing
It’s about understanding what your body is doing each month

We often see patients who are tracking ovulation
but still feeling unsure about what’s actually happening in their cycle

Things like irregular timing
short luteal phases
or unclear ovulation patterns
can all play a role

Motherhood can look đź‘€ many different ways.

Today can feel joyful, emotional, hopeful, exhausting, complicated, or all of those things at once.

We’re thinking of all of the
The mums growing babies.
The women trying to conceive.
The women grieving.
The stepmums, grandmothers, foster mums, aunties, and carers.
And the people quietly carrying the weight of wanting to become a parent.

Wherever you are in your journey, we hope you feel loved and supported today.

Thank you for the care, strength, love, and unseen work that so many women give every single day.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at The Acupuncture Pregnancy Clinic 🤍

🚩 Pelvic pain isn’t something you should just “put up with.”

Whether it shows up as period pain, a constant ache, or something that’s affecting your daily life it’s your body asking for support.

Pelvic pain is common in reproductive health and may be linked with conditions like endometriosis, hormonal imbalance, or pelvic floor tension.

Acupuncture is often used as part of an integrative approach to support pelvic health and fertility.

Research suggests it may assist with:
✨ Modulating pain response
✨ Supporting circulation to the pelvic organs
✨ Regulating hormonal function
✨ Reducing inflammation
✨ Supporting stress and nervous system balance

In Chinese Medicine, pelvic pain is often viewed as a disruption in the flow of Qi and blood which can present as stagnation, tension, or congestion in the lower abdomen.

That’s why treatment is always personalised.

🌿 Care may include:
• Acupuncture tailored to your symptoms and cycle
• Chinese herbal medicine (when appropriate)
• Support alongside IVF or fertility care
• Lifestyle and dietary guidance

💛 Pelvic pain is common but that doesn’t mean it’s something you have to navigate alone.
