Daily Habits to Support Your Summer Wellbeing 🔆🏖
The festive season can be uplifting and also overwhelming. Summer is governed by the Heart in Chinese Medicine, which thrives on joy, connection, and rhythm but can quickly become unsettled if we do too much, too fast.
Here are five simple things you can do this week to restore balance:
🌿 1. Rest with purpose
Try a short afternoon nap, read under a tree, or book a calming acupuncture session. You don't need to earn rest. Your Heart needs it.
💧 2. Stay hydrated and eat cooling, red or bitter foods
Think watermelon, cucumber, berries, bitter greens like kale or rocket, and tomatoes. These foods help calm Heart fire and support digestion.
💤 3. Prioritise sleep
Try winding down with no screens after 9pm, herbal teas like chamomile, or our favourite breathing technique: hand on heart, hand on belly, ten slow deep breaths while gently circling the chest.
🍹 4. Reimagine your drinks
Mocktails with lime, mint, and sparkling water are festive and supportive. Add strawberries or cucumber for a delicious touch.
💛 5. Connect with people who lift you up
Whether it’s a walk with a friend, a phone call, or sending a message to someone you miss, nourishing your Heart also means nurturing your emotional connections.
At this time of year, simple rituals make all the difference.
