What a view -wow 🤯🤩! And what a warm and welcoming feel the place had! The hallway was joked to look like fallopian tube 😆which tbh… it kind of did!

Lovely night chatting to some fertility community we so much enjoy working alongside! The night gave us the warm and fuzzies !

Why do you need to know that?” 🤔 (We can hear you thinking it.)

During a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultation especially for fertility we often ask questions you may never have been asked before. And yes… some of them can feel a little weird.

We might ask about:
• Are you usually warm or cold?
• What are your bowel motions like?
• Do you sweat easily?
• What is your cycle length?
• Is your period light or heavy? Painful? Clotted?
• What colour is the blood?

So what do these questions actually tell us?
👉 Example:
• A long cycle with light flow may suggest Blood or Kidney deficiency
• Heavy bleeding or clots can point toward Blood stagnation
• Cold hands, feet, and cramping may indicate Cold in the uterus
• Spotting before a period could suggest Qi deficiency
• Digestive issues can affect how well the body produces Blood (essential for a healthy cycle and implantation)

Your answers along with tongue and pulse analysis help us build a clear, individualised TCM diagnosis. This diagnosis guides how we support ovulation, improve blood flow to the uterus, regulate hormones, and optimise conditions for conception.

Every detail matters. What may seem unrelated often gives us vital clues about how your organs and systems are communicating (or not).

Acupuncture works by helping under- or over-functioning systems return to balance, supporting the body’s natural rhythms and harmonising yin and yang. The reasoning behind point selection can take years to fully learn, but we’re always happy to explain why we choose certain points and how they’re supporting your fertility and overall wellbeing.

🌿 Whether you’re trying to conceive naturally, preparing for IVF, regulating your cycle, or supporting your body post-partum, TCM takes a holistic, personalised approach because your fertility journey is uniquely yours.

Endometriosis support + free acupuncture care

We wanted to share a research opportunity that may be helpful for some of our patients living with endometriosis.

A PhD study at NICM Health Research Institute (Western Sydney University) is currently recruiting participants to explore acupuncture for endometriosis.

Participants receive:
• 12 free acupuncture treatments
• Weekly sessions over 12 weeks
• Treatment at NICM in Westmead

Who can join?
• Diagnosed endometriosis
• Not currently undergoing fertility treatment over the next 3 months

This is a great opportunity to receive consistent care while also contributing to research in this area.

We know how complex and ongoing endometriosis can be, and more research like this is really important for improving support and understanding.

If this feels relevant for you or someone you know, you can learn more via the link below.

Low AMH can feel overwhelming.

This study looked at whether Chinese herbal medicine could support ovarian reserve in women with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR).

Over 3 months, researchers found:

• AMH improved in the herbal groups

• AMH declined in the hormone-only group

• Herbal treatment showed similar results to combined therapy

The strongest responses were seen in women under 40, with no previous pregnancies, and AMH above 0.2.

Researchers suggest this may relate to improved ovarian blood flow, reduced inflammation, and support of hormonal regulation.

This was an observational study, so more research is needed. Outcomes can vary depending on your individual health and fertility history.

If you’re navigating low AMH or IVF, we’re here to support you with personalised, evidence-informed care.

Persistent swelling?
Recurring ovarian cysts?
PCOS symptoms that won’t settle?
Or a lingering phlegmy cough that keeps hanging around?

There’s an acupuncture point we often talk about in the clinic that may interest you.

Today we’re highlighting Stomach 40 (ST40) traditionally known in Chinese medicine as one of the key points used to support the body in resolving “phlegm.”

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, “phlegm” doesn’t just refer to mucus in the lungs. It’s a broader concept describing the accumulation of fluids in the body.

Swellings, cysts, nodules, and certain PCOS presentations may fall into this category.

✨ ST40 is traditionally used to support:
• Phlegm and persistent cough
• Fluid accumulation
• Ovarian cysts
• Dizziness
• Asthma
• Certain types of swelling

📍 Location:
On the front of the lower leg, midway between knee and ankle, two finger-breadths to the outer side of the shin bone.

As always, acupuncture treatment is individualised. One point alone isn’t a full treatment plan it’s part of a broader pattern assessment.

If you’re navigating PCOS, recurrent cysts, or fluid-related symptoms and want personalised support, we’re here to help.

🍂 March is Endometriosis Awareness Month.

But for many women, awareness comes years too late.

1 in 7 women in Australia are affected by endometriosis.
Yet diagnosis can take years.

Not because symptoms aren’t real.
But because they’re often normalised.

Pelvic pain is not “just bad periods.”
Heavy bleeding is not something you have to push through.
Severe fatigue isn’t a personality trait.

💛 The good news? Awareness is growing. Research is improving. And earlier diagnosis is becoming part of the conversation (finally).

Common symptoms of endometriosis can include:
🔸 Pelvic pain — before, during, or after menstruation
🔸 Heavy or irregular periods
🔸 Pain with bowel movements or urination during periods
🔸 Ongoing fatigue
🔸 Bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, or nausea
🔸 Difficulty conceiving

✨ Every experience is different. Some women have severe pain. Others have very few symptoms. Both are valid.

If something doesn’t feel right in your body, it’s worth investigating.
Early support and coordinated care may help improve quality of life and reproductive outcomes.

📢 Save this. Share this. Start the conversation.

The Year of the Yang Fire Horse 🐎🐴🌸
What this new cycle may mean for fertility, pregnancy, and the body.

Chinese New Year begins on February 17, 2026, marking the transition into the Year of the Yang Fire Horse.

As we step into 2026, many people feel it instinctively something is shifting.

In Chinese astrology, the Yang Fire Horse marks a return of movement and warmth after years of pause. Energy begins to rise again. Life wants to move forward but not through force.

For fertility and pregnancy, this matters.

Fire represents activation.
The Horse represents movement.
Together, they support circulation, rhythm, and change when held in balance.

This is not a year for rushing or extremes.
It’s a year for:
• warmth over urgency
• rhythm over timelines
• gentle momentum over pressure

When the body feels safe and supported, it often remembers how to move forward naturally.

We’ve shared a full guide exploring what the Fire Horse year may bring including insights for each Chinese zodiac sign and practical ways to support fertility and pregnancy through this cycle.

Our Story

The Acupuncture Pregnancy clinics (incorporating the original Acupuncture IVF Support clinics) in Sydney and Melbourne and the Central Coast are the first of their kind in Australia. The first clinic was established in 2008 in response to evidence from clinical trial results which demonstrated some benefits of acupuncture for IVF patients. Since then we have seen more than 12,000 patients.

Professional integrity, best practice and offering appropriate clinical programs are a priority for us – in a field where patients can sometimes be very vulnerable. We see couples or single women who are trying to conceive, whether with IVF or naturally. Many of our patients, once they conceive, like to be looked after during their pregnancies and helped with labour preparation too.
