Close to everyone’s hearts - NUTELLA !

There are tastier healthy options!

To those in the UK, I could not find ANY alternative in the supermarket without Palm Oil!!! 😵‍💫 this brand is from Amazon UK.

BREAKFAST in a Loaf 🍏

Apple 🍏 Breakfast Loaf

1/2 cup gluten free oats
1/4 cup coconut flour
1/4 cup rice flour
Pinch of salt
1 tsp gluten free baking powder
1 egg
1/4 cup evoo
1 tsp vinegar (any type)
1 tb milk (any variety)
1/2 cup lose cup dates chopped
1 apple grated
Buckwheat kernels sprinkled on top before cooking
Bake for 15-20mins 170’c or until golden brown

Home made shortbread! With of course EVOO! Experimental process but it turned out okay!!

1/4 cup evoo
1/4 cup icing sugar
1 cup plain flour
You can add more flour if the mixture looks too thin.
Place mixture straight onto baking paper and bake at 170’c for 15 mins or until golden.

You can cook with EVOO! 🫒

Research shows that Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a highly stable oil, rich in the healthy mono-unsaturated fat and is high in antioxidants that protect the oil from breaking down when heated.

Research also shows that vegetable oils high in polyunsaturated fats, such as canola, sunflower and rice bran, have very few antioxidants and are highly susceptible to breaking down and oxidation, producing harmful compounds.

EVOO has also been shown to increase the antioxidant content of veggies when you cook with it !! Just another reason to use this powerful healthy fat !

The humble pancake. So simple, so healthy, and so delicious! 🥞

1 egg
1 tb evoo
1/2 banana
1/2 pear
1/3 cup almond meal
1/4 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt

1 tb evoo to cook in
Maple syrup to serve

Shae has done it again!! 😋 Perfect sweet bread with EVOO, easy to make and great for kids lunchboxes

Ingredients:
1 cup SR flour (can use gluten free or spelt alternatively)
4 crushed weet bix
1/2 tsp bicarbonate soda
1 egg
1/4 cup EVOO
1 cup dried dates chopped and softened
1 cup boiling water

Method:
- blitz dates and EVOO together.
- add weet bix, boiling water and bicarbonate soda and mix well until combined.
- add egg followed by remaining dry ingredients
- pour into baking tin
- bake at 160 degrees for 40-45 mins

FATS - keeping it simple!

Vegetable Oils = OR common other names, Canola, Rapeseed, Rice bran, Soybean, Sunflower, Safflower, Palm, and Cottonseed Oil.

If a label states 'Vegetable Oils' in the ingredients list it will be a mixture of any of these. Using the umbrella term of 'Vegetable Oils' saves companies having to pay to get new labels printed - they can simply put whichever oil inside their product without the consumer knowing!

These oils actually don't even come from vegetables, they are extracted from seeds.

❌ Most of the seeds are genetically modified. Canola seeds for example do not exist in nature, they are a modified version of the rapeseed !
❌ These seeds are heated to very high temperatures making them rancid before they are even manufactured into oils.
❌They get mixed with a petroleum solvent - yes you read that right - to extract the oil
❌That oil is then treated again with heat, chemicals, and deodorizers to make it look, smell, and taste more like an 'oil'

However = there are more natural options:

✅ Butter = made from cream, cream being the top layer of milk, the cream is beaten, shaken or whisked which causes the cream to separate. The separation of the cream results in two new products. One being butter milk, and the other is butter. You can make butter at home in less than 10 minutes.

✅ EVOO = is the result of crushing olives by force into a pulp, not by heat or chemicals. With kneading, the pulp makes a paste and the liquid released is olive oil. Our favourite !!
