Why see a naturopath?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Naturopathy is a holistic medical system that is based on treating the whole person, and not simply the symptoms. We consider all of the factors that contribute to your health, including full medical history, family history, diet, lifestyle, sleep, exercise, relationships and environment. We also utilise a range of functional and pathological testing in order to gain a deep understanding of each person.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A key principle of naturopathy is to support the natural healing processes within the body. Our bodies have the capability to heal themselves; it’s up to us to support those natural processes by optimising diet, sleep, lifestyle, energy, and reducing stress levels.

We formulate a specific, individualised treatment plan for each client that incorporates herbal medicines and nutritional supplementations, and make recommendations based on diet, lifestyle, sleep and environment.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re looking for support with your health journey, we are here to help. We also offer online consultations.

FLOWER ESSENCES….to be honest when I first studied flower essences at uni I was very sceptical and didn’t feel they were ‘scientific’ enough for my liking. However, after seeing first-hand the impacts that flower essences have had on my clients, I am now totally in love with them!

Flower essences have been used throughout history to address the emotional and mental states that many healers believe cause the physical manifestation of disease. They are produced by imprinting a flower’s unique vibrational energy into a carrier solution which then helps to bring about emotional and spiritual balance in the person that takes the essence.

Do you have a favourite flower that you just love to look at? Or feel that certain flowers stand out to you? Perhaps this is the essence that you most need…

Image: The earliest recorded use of flower essences in Europe was by Abbess Hildegard von Bingen in the 12th Century

Schisandra chinensis
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A go-to herb that is great for people who are low in vitality, fatigued and need some extra liver support.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is best known for it’s liver-protecting properties as it increases glutathione (the master antioxidant), supports liver detoxification pathways, and promotes liver regeneration and hepatocyte growth.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is also a tonic and adaptogen herb, increases vitality, strengthens and tonifies the body, supports the body’s stress adaptation response, lifts mood, and enhances physical performance and endurance.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Schisandra also has anti-ageing, cognitive enhancing, antioxidant, immune supporting, and anti-inflammatory properties.

ADAPTOGENS FOR STRESS….Seeing lots of clients at the moment who are really feeling the pressure and experiencing higher levels of stress than usual.

One of the things that I love to incorporate into treatment in these situations is a class of herbs called adaptogens. These herbs are just so magical and have been used for centuries in traditional medicinal systems to help people cope with environmental, mental and emotional stressors.

They act as stress-response modifiers that measurably increase the body’s ability to cope with stress, be it emotional, physical or environmental. Not only this, but they are also incredibly nourishing, with many of these special herbs exerting additional actions on the body such as immune system support; boosting cognitive function, mental focus and performance; and helping with energy production and endurance.

Some of my favourites include:
🌿 Rhodiola for energy and mood boosting
🌿 Siberian ginseng (pictured) for chronic stress and immune support
🌿 Bacopa for improving cognitive performance and memory

Who doesn’t need a bit of adaptogen action in their lives at the moment?!

Avocados are a nutrient-dense superfood. They are high in the monounsaturated form of fatty acids that are so important for health. Avocados have been associated with a reduced risk of being overweight; and they can reduce weight gain by increasing satiety, decreasing the hunger hormone ghrelin, and inhibiting fat absorption.

Avocados can support a healthy gut microbiome, by increasing short-chain fatty acids and butyrate (butyrate is an important source of energy for the beneficial bacteria in our digestive system).

Avos also contain other nutrients including dietary fibre, magnesium, calcium, folate, vitamin E, the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin, potassium and essential fatty acids.

From an energetic perspective, avocados are often used to support fertility, because a cut avocado and the seed symbolically represent a baby in the uterus. Avos contain nutrients that support healthy foetal development such as essential fatty acids, vitamin E and folate. And just like a human baby, an avocado fruit also takes 9 months to grow from a tiny bud.

Try an avo cut in half, sprinkled with a small pinch of Celtic sea salt and chilli flakes, and eat it straight from the skin!
