Northern Beaches Para Surfer BC

Northern Beaches Para Surfer BC NBPSB provides a platform for para surfers to engage, mentor, and empower others in surfing. NBPSBC aims to be where champion Para Surfers are nurtured.

Through services and activities, it fosters a sense of community, promotes inclusivity, and raises awareness throughout the wider communities. Para Surfing, also known as Adaptive Surfing, is a rapidly growing sport that provides individuals with physical disabilities the opportunity to experience the thrill of riding a wave. Northern Beaches Para Surfer Boardriders Inc is envisioned as a non-profit organisation aimed at promoting & supporting para surfing activities. Northern Beaches Para Surfer Boardriders Inc aims to provide a platform dedicated for para surfers to engage and mentor others in the sport of surfing. Through its services & activities, the club aims to empower para surfers & create a positive impact on their lives by fostering a sense of community and to promote inclusivity by raising awareness in the wider community. This will then facilitate skill development & competitive opportunities for the para surfers. The NBPSB’s vision is to be a club that is fun & relaxed for those who may only wish to compete at club level. However, it will also provide an ideal pathway to National & International events and competitions. With the club's support, para surfers have the potential to build a strong competitive surfing career. All the while, making a serious impact on the surfers physical, mental, emotional & spiritual health. We are to be a serious part of their rehabilitation or therapy & in turn making a positive impact on their family, friends & other support crew who will also benefit.

Bondi Beach just got a whole lot cooler 😎

Honoured to witness the unveiling of the Pauline Menczer statue yesterday. It’s a permanent reminder of her incredible contribution to the sport 🏄🏼

What an icon & what a view she has for her permanent surf check at her hometown break. Future generations will be inspired walking past 👑🌊🏆

Managed to navigate through the crowd to grab a photo… took a few goes but finally got one 😝

After returning from the World Para Surfing Championship in Oceanside, Jack shared his insights on the honour of competing internationally and highlighted the vital role our regular club competitions play in keeping him sharp…

“Representing at the ISA world para surfing championships is always such a fun and inspiring time. The vibes are always so high and the team spirit (especially for the Aussies) is infectious. supports me in many ways, such as holding more regular comps/get together with a lot of the other Australian Para surfers, and also financially through providing grants to help pay for some of the expenses that come with attending these competitions”

Grace competed fiercely in Oceanside for and we were thrilled to hear her perspective on representing her country & how NBPSB helps cultivate the opportunities and mindset needed to succeed…

A huge congratulations to (Para Surf Vision Impairment 1 - Blind) on his incredible journey at the ISA World Para Surfing Championship in Oceanside! Kirk’s trip wasn’t without drama— his unknowingly attempted to shoot the pier and came off second best! However, he showed phenomenal resilience, bouncing back the very next day to win a Silver Medal for !

We asked Kirk about the drive behind wearing the green and gold and how the supportive community at helps athletes turn setbacks into success.

“I am so happy to represent my country for the sixth time in Oceanside this year. It an honour. Love being able to surf and train regularly with Northern Beaches Para Surfers Boardriders. It’s great to practice surfing in a heat regularly, It gives me an edge when it comes to being calm in a high stakes competition.”

Our athlete series of posts is today celebrating Sarah Gibson, who proudly represented the Northern Beaches and Australia at the highest level in Oceanside, Sarah explains the unique feeling of putting on the national jersey and gives a shout-out to the supportive community atmosphere she finds right here at She even got to celebrate her 50th birthday during the event…. 🇦🇺 Irukandjis World Championship Series:

Celebrating Our Support Crew and Athletes!
The 2025 World Para Surfing Championship in Oceanside, California, at the beginning of this month were a massive success, resulting in medals and monumental victories performances.

We are thrilled that five of our members— , , Sarah Gibson, , and —represented Australia on the team.

🥇 Legendary Effort from Spotter Brett Gibson!
The journey to the podium relies heavily on the support crew, and no one shouldered more responsibility than Brett Gibson (or ‘Bretto’ as we know him!). Brett took on the massive task of acting as the spotter for three of our competing surfers: Vision Impaired Sarah Gibson & Jack Jackson as well as Blind Surfer Kirk Watson.

We are incredibly proud to share that all three athletes Brett supported medaled in their respective divisions! This phenomenal success meant that, including the overall Team Medal, Bretto walked away with four new pieces of bling! Despite having the highest workload, Brett never dropped his high-energy levels. Congratulations to him and a massive thank you for his absolutely legendary efforts in Oceanside!

Had a great time catching up with some of the NBPSB crew for the Friday night meat raffles run by The Mona Vale Hotel Social Golf Club⛳️ These guys are so generous with their time, energy and giving back to community via a big cheque each qtr. A few being surfers themselves or knowing people who work with in the disability space, really appreciating getting to know us as a club and what we are wanting to achieve among our community.

Funds are raised through the meat raffles and they have kindly donated $3,000 to go towards equipment for the club🙌🏼🏄🏼

Also want to thank for facilitating this fundraising platform through for which many local organizations benefit from.
