Every year on May 12 — the birthday of Florence Nightingale — we pause to honour the nursing profession.

Why Florence? Because she’s known as the founder of modern nursing. In the 1800s, her pioneering work transformed healthcare, not just through medical care, but through compassion, hygiene, and respect for human dignity.

Today, International Nurses Day is about recognising the nurses who carry that same spirit — in hospitals, in homes, in communities, and everywhere in between.

Parkinson’s is a progressive, degenerative neurological condition that affects people of all ages—and it’s more prevalent in Australians over 50 than many common cancers. Yet, it remains complex, misunderstood, and often misdiagnosed.
