A quantum researcher in Singapore has warned that China’s Micius satellite, the world’s first quantum satellite, may be vulnerable to hacking due to measurable time delays between its onboard lasers, which could be exploited to distinguish between decoy and signal states in quantum key distribution.

Alexander Miller, formerly of Moscow-based QSpace Technologies and now at the National University of Singapore, analysed satellite-to-ground data from 2021 to 2022 and found delays of up to 300 picoseconds, allowing a theoretical attacker to identify photon states with 98.7% accuracy.

The findings, published on arXiv and not yet peer-reviewed, raise concerns about the implementation security of quantum communication systems, despite the theoretical robustness of QKD protocols like BB84 used by Micius.

Elon Musk has lashed out at US President Donald Trump's agenda bill – which the president is pressuring GOP senators to support – calling it a "disgusting abomination."

Hop on a train in the Netherlands, and you’re gliding across the countryside using nothing but the power of the wind. Dutch Railways (NS) partnered with a wind energy company to ensure that all electric trains are powered by turbines—some of which stand proudly on Dutch soil, while others spin off the coast. The result? Every trip you take is zero-emissions.

This move not only cuts carbon drastically but also proves what's possible when infrastructure and sustainability work hand-in-hand. The Dutch didn’t just improve transportation—they redefined it. 🚄🌬️

This breakthrough isn’t just another battery—it’s a major leap in how we store renewable energy. Using molten salt as its core, Denmark’s system holds heat at extremely high temperatures, then converts it back into electricity when needed. The result? Stable, large-scale storage that can keep entire cities running even when the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing.

What sets this apart is how efficient and scalable it is. Unlike traditional lithium batteries, molten salt systems are cheaper, safer, and better suited for grid-level energy. Denmark is showing the world how to prepare for a truly sustainable future—and it's heating up the race to go fossil-free. 🔋🔥

Self-Hypnosis

Hello, I’m Pam Young. That’s how I begin my recordings. All this began when I enrolled in a Ph.D. in obesity at Uni. of New South Wales. At the time I was staff and student counsellor at University of Technology, Sydney. One day the editor of the student newspaper “Newswit” asked for hypnosis to help give up smoking ci******es. I routinely recorded my hypnotic inductions so the person could listen to the recording at home, but on this occasion the tape became tangled and I volunteered to make another recording. I did so and settled down to listen to it. After that I gave up smoking. It was as if smoking had been ablated from my consciousness. I didn’t smell other people’s ci******es and my mind blanked out the ads at the movies. Not a shadow of interest. So I shifted my research to cigarette smoking. What was happening? The dramatic effect of listening to my own recording compared strikingly with my own fruitless efforts to give up and the total lack of response when someone else tried to hypnotise me.
