Wanda lifesavers headed south last weekend to support our friends at Garie, helping keep their beach safe and patrol-ready.

It’s what the surf lifesaving movement is all about — clubs supporting each other, sharing our people and skills, and making sure every community has a safe place to swim. It’s community spirit at its best.

Huge thanks to our volunteers who gave up their time to lend a hand. Service beyond our own beach is something our club has always taken great pride in, and this was another example of that commitment in action.

The Action is Heating up this weekend!

Our surf team is off to Alexandra Headlands for the first 10,000-point Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series on Friday and Saturday, with a small group of Nippers lining up for the Nipper Challenge on Sunday.

We also have Wanda athletes competing in both beach and water events at the Sydney Water Series on Saturday at Wollongong City.

Back home at Wanda, our next group of candidates will be sitting their Bronze Medallion and IRB assessments — good luck to all!

It’s going to be a hot few days and our patrol teams will be out on a busy beach keeping the community safe.

If you are heading to the beach to cool off, be Sun Smart and surf-smart — and always swim between the red and yellow flags.

Wanda — One Club, many pathways: lifesaving, education, surf sports and leadership.

Leadership and Learning

Wanda member, Callum Redrup, attended the SLSNSW 18-25 Leadership Course held in Sydney last weekend.

Participants visited the SLSNSW helicopter base, undertook a patrol at Bondi, and took part in a range of activities including emergency response simulations, flood response training, and sessions on leadership pathways and the wide range of Surf Life Saving opportunities available.

Wanda is committed to developing young leaders and we're proud to support Callum in participating in this fantastic 2-day course.

Well done to Callum for embracing opportunities to develop further in Surf Life Saving and represent Wanda at the course.

Today is National Water Safety Day.

A reminder for all of us to make water safety a priority.

As we head into a busy, hot summer, take a moment to refresh your water safety habits:
• Always supervise children around water
• Swim at patrolled beaches between the red and yellow flags
• Wear a lifejacket when boating, rock fishing or using watercraft
• Avoid alcohol and drugs around water
• Learn swimming and lifesaving skills
• Know your limits and check the conditions

A huge thank you to our incredible water safety volunteers who show up week after week — rain, hail or shine. Your vigilance, skills and commitment make a real difference on our beach.

Together, we can help prevent drowning and keep our communities safe.

It’s gearing up to be an action-packed weekend!

Thirteen of our Wanda athletes will hit the water at Avoca Beach for the SLSS Interbranch Championships — an incredible opportunity to compete among the best.

Meanwhile, over in Mount Maunganui, NZ, wild surf has made for spectacular racing at the International Surf Rescue Challenge. We’re proudly watching our Wanda athletes, Elyssa (Great Britain) and Dane (Australia) as they represent on the international stage. Dane had a great day winning the Ironman, Board rescue and beach relay and finishing 3rd in the surf race. His Australian Youth Team has won the first 2 Tests.
It's a rest day tomorrow and racing resumes on Sunday with 3rd Test.

Wishing all our Wanda athletes the very best of luck across the weekend!
