Do you get this reaction whenever you say No to your child?

Imagine if someone told you that you can’t drive anymore, that would probably drive you crazy!

But if you provide a replacement in a passive and empathetic way like “it’s not a good idea to drive now, but you can catch the bus or train instead”, you avoid triggering the stress response in your brain, reducing the frequency of tantrums and meltdowns.

Try this tip over christmas, and let us know if this helped you!

🧸 Did you know there are different stages of play?

Play isn’t just fun , it’s how kids learn, connect, and grow. From solo exploring to group games, each type of play teaches something new.

Here’s a quick look at the stages:
👶 Unoccupied Play (Birth–3 mo)
🧱 Solitary Play (Birth–2 yrs)
👀 Onlooker Play (2–3 yrs)

Transitions don’t have to feel like a daily battle.
If your child melts down when it’s time to leave the house, stop playing, or switch activities, it’s usually not defiance — it’s a regulation challenge.
Transitions ask the brain to stop, shift, and start something new. For some kids, that shift feels huge. Add noise, lights, temperature changes, or unpredictable routines, and it can be overwhelming fast.
Here’s what helps:
✨ Give previews of what’s coming next
✨ Offer clear time warnings
✨ Keep routines predictable with visuals and a calm voice
Small adjustments make transitions feel safer and smoother — for both you and your child.

🗣️ Ever heard your child tell a long, winding story about something that happened at school (with a few dragons thrown in)? That’s a narrative!

Narratives help kids make sense of the world and share their thoughts, whether they’re retelling a book, explaining what happened at lunchtime, or inventing wild adventures with their toys. 📖🧸

They’re also great for building language, memory, social skills, and imagination 🧠💭

✨ SCHOOL READINESS SKILLS ✨
Phonological awareness is a big part of getting little ones ready to learn to read and write! 👏
Here are a few key skills we focus on before school starts:
🔤 Identifying atleast 10 letters
🎵 Breaking words into syllables (e.g., ba-na-na)
🤩 Blending simple sounds together to make words (e.g., c-a-t → cat!)
Building these early literacy skills helps set children up for reading success 📚💫
