🎄Air dry Clay Decorations - when made with a toddler, med to high level stress 😂

These are such a beautiful low-waste alternative to plastic, and so special to make for and with the whānau. I ran a number of Christmas workshops creating these, and it was such a joy to see everyone’s creativity come to life ✨

Use whatever botanicals, stamps, or shapes you have on hand and make them your own. You can pick they clay up at your local craft store or Officeworks.

🌲 Roll out the air-dry clay to around 3–5 mm thick
🌲 Press in your botanicals
🌲 Use a glass or cookie cutter to cut your shape, then poke a hole for the string to thread through once dry
🌲 Smooth the edges with a little water and leave to dry for 24–48 hours, or dry slowly in a low oven, flipping occasionally to prevent the edges curling. They turn a bright white when fully dry
🌲 Finish with string and beads
You can paint or seal with varnish if you like, but I love them left natural. And because they’re air-dry, there’s no firing needed 🤍

🌱Waste free Wednesday!

I love a good scrap regrow, essentially it’s free food right, but it’s important to select well before you plant. Vege that has been imported could introduce unwanted guests to the soil.

Another good reason to support local right!

I generally go through a celery stalk a week & I’m excited to be able to harvest them from my own garden soon enough. You don’t need a garden though, an indoor pot & a sunny spot will work just as well!

Other scraps I regrow in the reg are spring onions, lettuce & bok choy.
