Non-Smokers' Movement of Australia Inc.

We want to communicate our message about everybody's right to breathe clean air, free from the poisons in tobacco smoke. We need to set an end date for tobacco.

Australian non-profit organisation fighting since 1977 for everybody's right to breathe clean air free from the poisons in tobacco smoke, vaping and e-cigs and fighting against Big Tobacco. Our governments have known since the 1970's that tobacco smoke is dangerous, it can cause lung cancer and triggers other deadly heart and lung conditions including Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease ( COPD). Governments tell us "There is no safe level of secondhand smoke", and yet they continue to allow smoking indoors in prisons and some residential institutions, in dodgy "outdoor" (75% enclosed) areas in pubs and clubs, in theatres on stage, and at outdoor dining areas where the smoke drifts around indiscriminately. They fail to protect residents (especially infants and children) of multi-unit public housing and strata properties by making those properties free from the dangers of smoke drift and smoke seepage. We also continue to communicate the dodgy dealings of Big Tobacco, its influence on politicians, and its cozy relationship with the alcohol and gambling lobbies. With tobacco costing this nation approximately $31 billion in health and related expenses per year, and with approximately $7 billion in excise, do the sums and see that we need to get rid of this curse which continues to kill more Australians than any other single product. Think what we can do with the money saved - we need to fix up alcoholism, obesity, mental health and much more. We must reduce tobacco's stranglehold on Australia.

There is no mention of this player's smoking emissions' effect on everybody nearby.
Smoking and va**ng bans protect everybody in the vicinity of potentially deadly emissions.
Smokers have easy access to alternative ni****ne products (patches, gums, lozenges and sprays) which don't affect others.
Everybody has the basic right to breathe clean air, free from toxins.

1. Declaring many more spaces smoke-free/v**e-free also assists smokers/v**ers to escape their addiction to ni****ne, and, of course, helps the vast majority - those who don't smoke or v**e - to claim/retain their basic right to breathe clean air, free from toxins.
2. The concept of dissuasive messaging on individual ci******es/ va**ng devices WILL work and that's why Big To***co and Big Va**ng fight tooth and nail, with every trick in the book (delay, delay, delay) and ($ $ $) against these health-promoting tactics.

Still no mention of the potentially dangerous and deadly effects of va**ng emissions on anyone in the vicinity of v**ers.
We call on all Health Ministers to legislate to protect everybody from va**ng/e-cigarette emissions.
Everybody has the right to breathe clean air.

The first national anti-va**ng campaign doesn't revive graphic imagery of tar-filled lungs or people in their deathbeds, but raises a different fear.

Wonderful! The Irish lead again in the battles against to***co - British Prime Minister Richi Sunak has dropped the ball on this anti-to***co/anti-va**ng legislation to go into a re-election campaign. We can only hope that the winning party sees the sense in such life-changing regulations and (unlike in NZ) doesn't completely scrap them.

Fermanagh woman Denise McCallion, who works as the Health Improvement Manager at the Public Health Agency, has spoken out following new legislation being considered in a bid to stop smoking.

Congratulations and deepfelt gratitude to Ireland's parliament for that historic victory, and for showing the world that every worker has the right to breathe clean air. Here in NSW, Australia we continue to battle for that right while workers in pubs and clubs are subjected to the toxins in second-hand to***co smoke and va**ng emissions while smoking is allowed at multiple poker machines in rooms which are 75% enclosed (designated as unenclosed/open).
The bosses don't want gamblers to break their "gambling trance" by having to go outdoors to smoke or v**e.

Everybody has the right to breathe clean air. The same clean-air rights as those which apply to second-hand to***co smoke apply to emissions from va**ng and e-ci******es.
TWO MAJOR ISSUES:

1. Many people are unaware of the abovementioned rights.

2. Lack of Signage: Va**rs/ e-cigarette users ignore NO Smoking signage - they reckon it doesn't apply to them.

NSMA Inc. has printed (and posted) hundreds of NO SMOKING/ NO VA**NG signage, due to the dearth of No Va**ng signage in NSW.
Happy to provide same to any volunteers - just stick 'em up, everywhere, to protect your health and the health of your fellow travellers, shoppers, walkers, residents. Get in touch.

Whatever happened to Full Disclosure?
Wiping out the proposed reforms of the previous NZ government was a disastrous and short-sighted move.
This disclosure, about family ties to Big To***co, may not bring back the former sensible reforms but will open some more eyes about this short-sighted Government.
Smoking continues to kill not only the user but also others nearby.
Everybody has the right to breathe clean air, free from toxins.
