I performed an Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) for this patient. The procedure involves elevating the abdominal skin, tightening the abdominal muscles to address any diverification, creating a new opening for the umbilicus and then excising the excess skin. Liposuction is also used to address any contour irregularities that may be present.

Abdominoplasty surgery is a procedure approved by Medicare as being medically necessary and not cosmetic for a significant number of patients. Eligibility requires the presence of a re**us diverification of greater then 3 cm (confirmed on imaging) or significant weight loss with the skin overhang causing symptoms along with a number of other features (item code #30165, 30175 or 30177)

Immediate result

Our patient lost a significant amount of weight which left her with loose, excess skin that was causing difficulty with daily living activities and functional problems around her abdomen and breast folds.

I performed a Circumferential Body Lift (lower body lift) with monsplasty and a Bilateral Breast Lift to achieve this result. This is an early post op picture to show the early changes within 6 weeks from surgery!

Post Pregnancy Breast and Abdomen Surgery

There are both functional and aesthetic reasons for surgery following childbirth. Breastfeeding and pregnancy related changes can leave breasts ptotic and deplete in volume. This can be symptomatic both functionally while wearing clothing, sweating and rashes in the breast crease or discomfort due to poorly fitting bras as well as from an aesthetic point of view for some patients.

Re**us muscle diverification following weight gain and loss and pregnancy (especially twins) can cause a decrease in core strength contributing to lower back pain and incontinence. Excess skin can cause rashes, sweating and odour issues.

All of these can be addressed and improved upon by a variety of techniques.

For this patient, I performed an Abdominoplasty and Breast Augmentation with Fat Grafting.

Some of these procedures may be approved by Medicare as being medically necessary and not cosmetic for a select group of patients especially if it is performed after massive weight loss or when symptomatic with a re**us diverification (item codes may include #30175 or 30177)
