I'm very happy to announce that my review article titled "Recent trends and therapeutic potential of phytoceutical-based nanoparticle delivery systems in mitigating non-small cell lung cancer" has been published in the Q1 journal, Molecular Oncology. This paper forms the introductory chapter of my PhD thesis. I am very grateful to my supervisors and collaborators for their support and guidance as I continue my research journey!

Bioactive molecules from plants, known as phytoceuticals, have been shown to upregulate anticancer pathways and downregulate pro-cancer pathways associated with non-small cell lung cancer. However, l...

Ginseng, is called Ren Shen in mandarin. The character for Ren 人 is used for ‘man’, because its looks like a two legged figure, is often how the roots of ginseng are shaped. The saponins in ginseng (ginsenosides) in the various species of ginseng have a wealth of pharmacological actions, including down-regulation of cancer pathways. Further research can only benefit treatment of many diseases.

Ginseng, a perennial plant with fleshy roots, has been a cornerstone of traditional medicine for thousands of years. Revered for its potent medicinal properties, ginseng's journey from ancient remedies to contemporary therapeutic applications is a testament to its enduring efficacy and versatility.

In a world where only 10 countries fall within the W.H.O. guidelines for safe air quality based on PM2.5 concentrations (1), early diagnosis of respiratory diseases such as COPD and Asthma will become vital to delivering timely intervention and hence a better quality of life for those with disease. This multi-centre randomized controlled trial (Canada) indicated that early identification of disease resulted for reduced health care utilisation and better outcomes. If you have symptoms such as shortness of breath, wheezing, phlegm and cough, it could be a number of respiratory diseases. Don't wait to have it assessed.

Many persons with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or asthma have not received a diagnosis, so their respiratory symptoms remain largely untreated. We used a case-finding method to iden...

Delighted to have been accepted as a Fellow of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society. I have been a grateful member of ATMS for a decade, but my career within natural health extends to almost three decades. My desire to be part of the change that is needed as a provider to bring better health to the public started as a an aerobics instructor back in the mid-90s, then as a fitness specialist/trainer, then as a massage therapist, then (and still) as a Chinese Medicine Practitioner, and now researching the mechanisms of medicinal plants within the disciple of pharmaceutical sciences. When you do what you love, the learning never stops. Do what drives you and everything else will follow. Australian Traditional Medicine Society hashtag hashtag hashtag hashtag

With new research methods and data identifying how herbal medicine components function against disease, new treatment strategies can be developed. This article is a great example of how a herb, Prunella Vulgaris (Xia Ku Cao) has specific actions against breast cancer.

The link between breast cancer and oestrogen was first reported in 1896 when it was observed that women with breast cancer had tumour reduction post bilateral ovariectomy. (1) Subsequent research has shown that oestrogen binding to oestrogen receptors (ERs) promotes interaction between membranes and

Hey, I'm Maya! I am using my Papa's facebook account (with his permission) to tell you about the amazing charity called Make-A-Wish! Every year, thousands of Australian kids are diagnosed with illnesses that threaten their very life. Make-A-Wish works to calm, distract and empower ill kids when they need it most. I am trying to raise at least $300 before the 3rd of June for Make-A-Wish. Use the link below to donate and make wishes come true. Every dollar counts. Thanks!

I am raising money for Make-A-Wish and sick kids across Australia. I’d love if you could donate to my fundraising page. Together, we can give sick kids hope, joy and inspiration through the power of a wish – will you help support me?
