No, you don’t have to live with scars that are painful, tight, restrictive, causing you issues of any kind. Gentle scar massage can help soften the tissue just like we soften muscles. However deep vigorous techniques should be avoided so as not to cause more inflammation.

If you’ve had surgery or radiation as part of your cancer treatment, chances are you were told what to expect in terms of recovery times, healing timelines, maybe even how your scar might look. But what often gets left out of the conversation is how that scar might feel—physically and emotionall...

It's the month where we get to celebrate Natural Medicine Week and once again I am an ambassador for this wonderful initiative by the Australian Traditional Medicine Society. It's a way of raising awareness of the important role natural medicine practitioners play in the health and wellbeing of Australians. There is plenty on offer this month from online events, to blogs and recipes all by accredited practitioners. Jump across to the website and take a look:

Are you living with lymphoedema?

The Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA) is seeking responses from people living with lymphoedema in Australia to explore the use of allied health services to manage lymphoedema.

This data will be used to provide information in response to the current review of the Medical Benefits Schedule for Allied Health services under Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plans. CDM services can be used by people with chronic conditions likely to be present for 6 months or longer and currently allow people to access 5 subsidised sessions with Allied Health Professionals each calendar year.

Thank you for your time in assisting the ALA with their advocacy work.

Did you know I also train other massage therapists to specialise in oncology massage? is my other business.

Yep, life’s pretty hectic being in clinic 5 days a week and also running a training organisation. But I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Oncology massage therapists are an essential part of the cancer care support team as we help enhance quality of life at a time when life itself it can seem pretty scary.

Today on world cancer day, let’s raise the awareness of the impact oncology massage makes on the life of someone diagnosed with cancer.

Another weekend of continuing education complete. Scars have been a special interest of mine for well over a decade. C-Sections were never my forte so gaining extra knowledge around them was super important. Vickie Maher from Restore Scar Therapy was an amazing trainer/mentor for the course.

I also met up with two amazing oncology massage therapists I know on the course. So great to meet Valerie in person and to see Fiona again after so many years.
