About Koedam Design

Our design practise is based on the belief that our client's needs are of the utmost importance. As a result, a very high percentage of our business is from repeat clients and referrals. Susan Koedam (BA Interior Design SCA) is a highly skilled Interior Designer with over
25 years experience in both commercial and residential Interior Design. Susan graduated from the prestigious Sydney College of the Arts and belongs to the University of Technology alumni. Prior to commencing Koedam Design Pty Ltd in 1999, Susan worked for leading architectural firms such as Dino Burattini & Associates and Cann Architects. Her role with these firms, led her to become Senior Interior Designer, overseeing a team that worked on multi-million dollar architectural developments and fitouts, both commercial and residential. Susan worked on projects such as the Sydney Opera House Void project, Pitt Street Mall & monorail station and Standard Chartered Bank. Since commencing Koedam Design, Susan has worked on a variety of projects. These include the following clients and projects-

The New and the Old!…when a young client buys an old 1900’s workman’s cottage with a new addition and the rings for help!…
How to add her personality (yes, she asked for lots of colour & I did have to rein her in).
Our intention was to bring the old section back to a much grander style in tune with the house’s age and style (hence the William Morris wallpaper) plus keep the integrity of the home, traditional and modern…
This is the first part of renovations…some joinery has already gone in and eventually the kitchen will be renovated, but the client wanted a concept to be able to work towards as the finances become available.

REMINISCING…2016….10 years ago & what a busy year for our studio…here’s just a few projects…we worked interstate on a Victorian Blairgowrie Beach house renovation…Brighton Victoria furniture specification…Worked on the design concept and head office & Victorian Hydraulink trade showroom…A Beecroft doctors’ surgery…a colour scheme for a tourist ferry on Nepean River (yes a Ferry!)…back again to a beautiful Dural home extension & interior design, that we had worked with these clients previously for 3.5years while building this home….a renovation and additions to a Cheltenham NSW heritage home….designing a new reception area and graphic wall design murals for all the lecture, tutorial and pupil canteen for a business college at Liverpool…the interior design and furniture selections for a fabulous Penthouse apartment at Newcastle…the list went on!
Thank you to the same clients for still working with me…always a joy to get the call from you and to commence a new exciting project…looking forward to 2026!

Love a good concept presentation!…a concept is where we present our sketches, ideas and materials to discuss with our clients .We have always worked this way, more so with residential clients as commercial design is a whole new ball game. .We have always thought there is not a ‘one way’ or ‘my way’ design solution…the client in the end lives in our design, pays for it and needs to have an input & our guidance from start to finish. It is their space….We must be very proud of our work and final result, but in the end, we hand it over to our clients…it is theirs! .We will never present just one concept and say this is IT!! .

I love this time of the year…we are in holiday mode….we get to share quality time with our family & friends. ..and slowdown!…The weather is wonderful in our Christmas Summer time.
