Birth In Awareness

Birth In Awareness Prenatal yoga for yoga teachers and birth professionals. Birth in Awareness is all inclusive. All birth is celebrated. All birth choices are encouraged.

Birth in Awarenss is a space dedicated to pregnancy, birth and post birth recovery. 85 hour prenatal yoga teacher trainings as recognised by Yoga Alliance are planned for 2017 in Sydney and Bali. Through the prenatal yoga practice, Birth in Awareness trainings teach professionals how to prepare people to look within and discover themselves on their journeys of transformation through pregnancy and birth. As a recognised prenatal yoga teacher and yoga educator, in 2016 I have introduced a concept in Sydney known as the Sunday Sessions. This has come about after reflecting on how prenatal yoga has expanded since I became a yoga teacher almost 10 years ago. It is now common for yoga to be a part of pregnancy and birth preparation; obstetricians and midwives are recommending women include yoga as part of their pregnancy care. There are also many more people training and qualifying as yoga teachers both in Australia and internationally. Most teacher trainings spend a couple of hours out of the 200 hour initial training on pregnancy and yoga. Pregnant women are also choosing to stay in their regular classes for longer and it is important for them and for yoga teachers to understand more than the standard no twists and no jumping while pregnant. These sessions address this and have been developed as gatherings of yoga teachers to share and build knowledge and provide space for people to explore their own beliefs around pregnancy and birth. How we teach yoga is based on our own practice and influenced by our own beliefs. Understanding these opens the way for an authentic voice when working with pregnant women. The Sunday sessions are designed to give segments of knowledge about elements of prenatal yoga and are there for people to come to one or more.

Thankyou Dini Martinez for your book review “Finally a comprehensive book on prenatal yoga which will add
value to any dedicated prenatal yoga teacher or those teaching general classes with little options to offer for the occasional pregnant student. Gabby has made all the information any yoga teacher should know easily accessible, with beautiful illustrations and clear and precise explanation, without losing the depth of yoga. I would take it further and say that even Doulas, midwives and other healthcare
professionals working with pregnant women will get something valuable out of this book.”

Thankyou Melanie Mclaughlin for your book review.. “In this gem of a read Gabrielle offers us not only an interesting and informative handbook to navigate pregnancy, yoga and birthing for yoga teachers but also a supportive roadmap for a mother to be on her journey. Her own fascinating story through motherhood and yoga is part of the wisdom she offers and yet she has an incredible ability through her years of practical knowledge to see everyone’s journey and practice as unique and their own .. I’ve been blessed to have her input on many of my Yin Yoga teacher trainings since she herself took the course and if you cant have her guest speaking in your teacher trainings or holding your hand as your doula / prenatal yoga teacher –then this is the next best thing!”
