Thread lift results develop in two phases rather than appearing instantly.

1. The immediate lift is noticeable right after treatment. The skin is repositioned and supported by the barbs, showing results immediately. However, swelling peaks around day two or three and usually subsides within the first two weeks.
2. Progressive improvement occurs as the body recognises the thread material and triggers a healing response. Fibroblasts are sent to the area stimulating new collagen and elastin production around each thread.

The longevity of results depends on the thread material used:

1. PLLA (Poly-L-Lactic Acid) threads are more durable, dissolving up to 12 to 18 months. They stimulate a stronger collagen response.
2. PCL (Polycaprolactone) threads are the longest-lasting, dissolving over 24 months.
3. PDO (Polydioxanone) threads typically dissolve within six to seven months.

Importantly, the stimulation of collagen continues throughout the thread’s lifespan. The results outlast the threads significantly because the collagen triggered by the threads doesn’t disappear when they dissolve.
