🐾 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗛𝘂𝗿𝘁 - 𝗔 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗽 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

🤔 Ever noticed your dog hesitating before walking across your beautiful hardwood or tiled floors? Here's why that pause might be more serious than you think...

Those gorgeous tiles and polished floors become ice rinks for arthritic paws. One sudden slip can:
1. Worsen existing joint pain (hips, knees, elbows)
2. Cause new injuries or irritation
3. Make them fearful of moving around their own home

Place yoga mats or non-slip rugs in high-traffic areas - hallways, kitchen entries, and around their bed. Even cheap mats from KMART work perfectly!

Your dog will move with confidence again, and those stiff joints will THANK YOU for the extra security.

What's the trickiest spot in your home when it comes to your fur baby?

🥶 "My joints hurt in the cold... But I still try to keep up. Just for you." 💔

If your aging dog could talk, this is what they'd whisper to you every winter morning.

Dogs are incredibly stoic - they won't complain or whimper about joint pain. But that doesn't mean they're not hurting. 😢
Winter is especially tough on arthritic joints. The cold makes inflammation worse, stiffness sets in faster, and even simple walks become painful.

But here's the good news... 6 simple changes can transform your dog's winter comfort! ❄️➡️☀️

1️⃣ Warm up their meals (especially if refrigerated)
If you're feeding fresh or prepared food, heating your dog’s food slightly (especially if refrigerated) can be comforting to a chilly tummy and support better digestion and circulation.

2️⃣ Add extra warmth to bedding
Place their bed away from cold tiles or drafts. You can even pop a safe heating pad, a wool blanket, or even a cheap yoga mat from Kmart under their bed for gentle, consistent warmth to keep the cold from rising up through the ground.

3️⃣ Lift them in/out of cars to avoid sudden jolts
Lifting older dogs in and out of the car, or using a ramp, helps prevent those sudden jolts that can worsen joint pain. Take it slow and steady.

4️⃣ Keep necks warm (especially Frenchies & Dachshunds!)
If your ageing companion has had a history of any neck injuries or is a breed that is prone to neck problems (french bulldogs, dachshunds, Dobermans, or Weimerana’s) consider making them a neck warmer for the cold nights. A simple neck warmer from your ski gear that never gets used will work nicely! (I had a client use a sock for her Chihuahua once, so cute!!)

5️⃣ Keep them moving, but gently!
Shorter, more frequent walks help keep joints lubricated. Let them warm up slowly and avoid icy or uneven ground where they might slip.

6️⃣ Support them from the inside out with natural Joint Protect supplement
Over the last 20 years in my practice, I’ve noticed that certain herbs are especially effective for dogs whose joint pain worsens in cold weather. One of the most reliable is Boswellia - when added to their food daily, it can provide significant relief. When combined with Curcumin (the active ingredient in turmeric), you get a powerful duo that works specifically to ease cold-related joint discomfort. If your ageing companion is feeling the chill, try adding this combination to their daily meals for natural, targeted support. https://caninevital.com.au/products/joint-protect?utm_source=FB&utm_medium=JP2307

The secret ingredient? Boswellia + Curcumin - this powerful duo specifically targets cold-related joint discomfort. That's why both are in the Joint Protect formula! 🌿

They can't ask for help... but you can give it anyway. ❤️

What’s been most helpful for your dog to stay comfy and well this winter?

Limping. Slowing down. Acting “off”. These might seem like little quirks in your Frenchie - but they could be early signs of spinal discomfort.

As a practitioner, I see it all the time. The truth is, 93% of French Bulldogs are born with spinal deformities and IVDD, which puts them at higher risk of back problems like spinal injuries or disc protrusion (slipped disc).

The earlier you support their spine, the better their chances of staying active and pain-free long term.
If you’ve noticed changes in how your Frenchie moves - or just want to stay ahead of future issues - it’s worth learning how to support their spinal health now.

🐾 Help your Frenchie stay active, happy, and pain-free.

Protect their spine before it’s too late.

Human-grade isn’t just a label — here’s the proof.

I wouldn't give my dog something I wouldn’t take myself.

That’s why I’m taking our joint supplement — yes, it’s made with human-grade ingredients and absolutely no fillers. Just clean, effective support for joints.

Because our dogs deserve the same quality we do. 🐾

𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐃𝐨𝐠 𝐅𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤? 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐈𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐭

If your pup reacts when you gently press down along their spine - that could be an early sign of back pain, and it shouldn’t be ignored. Left untreated, it can lead to something more serious. But the good news is - there are some things you can do to help them at home!

Here are 4 things you can do to help them:
🛑 1. No ball chasing or running freely with other
I know it’s hard, but that quick zig-zag running puts a huge amount of stress on the spine - especially in dogs prone to back issues.

🚫 2. Avoid using stairs, jumping on/off couches, beds, or jumping in/out of vehicles. These actions put direct pressure on the spine. Try lifting them, or using a ramp or steps - especially for small or long-bodied breeds.

🤲 3. Gentle massage every night.
Use your fingers to gently massage either side of the spine. Just a few minutes a day helps ease their back pain and relax muscle tension. Your dog will love it!

🌿 4. Use a spinal-specific supplement like 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 https://caninevital.com.au/products/spinal-health
Regular joint & hip supplement are not very effective for spinal issues. They aren’t designed for the spine. Spines are made of different soft tissues than joints are so we need to use different supplement to ease their back pain and help protect their back/spine.

✨ Do these things and your pup will be feeling much better! If you can press down their spine one day with no reaction — that’s your green light! They’re on the mend, and can get back to running, playing, and loving life again.

"I just want to say thank you, I've had Abby on the Joint Protect for about three weeks and have noticed improvement in her walking and running. Would come up steps one at a time, but now runs up them like her old self. Would highly recommend. One other thing, shipping was fantastic, got my order within a week of ordering. Just wish you had a distributor in the States."— Bonnie Olson, USA

🐾 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚 𝐈𝐧𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: 𝐌𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐲 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞? 🐾

Many of you have been asking me about Beransa (also known as Librela), especially after it’s been featured on The Project. And it’s time to talk about it.

From the beginning, I have had my concerns about Beransa. The more I hear from colleagues in the veterinary field — and from the dogs we see suffering from it in my clinic - the more urgent it feels to speak up.

New research shows that Beransa may carry far more serious side effects than “mild irritation.” Since its rollout, vets have reported everything from incontinence and paralysis to seizures - and even death. More alarmingly, a recent expert panel found a 𝟗× 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐝 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐑𝐏𝐎𝐀) in dogs on Berensa versus other treatments, with nearly 𝟒,𝟕𝟒𝟔 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 logged.

💡If your pet is currently on Beransa, it’s time to PAUSE and RECONSIDER. I strongly encourage you to get informed and explore your options.

Want the full story on these risks? I’ve done a deep dive into the research and the findings are honestly shocking. 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐔𝐋𝐋 𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐋𝐄 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞:📖👇

About us

Animal Holistic Therapies is a clinic located in South West Sydney that offers alternative treatments for the canine and feline family members. We specialise in spinal conditions and lameness. Specifically we treat musculo-skeletal conditions affecting movement such as arthritis, joint and muscular injuries all the way through to spinal injuries and neurological conditions.

He started his vocation in holistic animal health care by obtaining a Bachelor of Applied Science (Traditional Chinese Medicine) at Western Sydney University, covering both herbal medicine and acupuncture for humans. He then travelled to China for his post-graduate qualification of Veterinary Acupuncture from Nanjing Shi Huang Institute of Animal Science & Technology. Neil also received formal training as a Chiropractitioner in Veterinary Orthopaedic Manipulation [VOM] in America.
