Our Speech Pathologists are trained to assess and provide therapy in all aspects of speech, language and learning development. Speech Pathologists at Hills District Speech Therapy are also highly trained in literacy development: reading, spelling and written language. As Speech Pathologists we detect and treat the underlying causes of literacy deficits so that anyone experiencing literacy difficulties can reach their full potential.

Thinking back on our recent cultural training at HDST. It was wonderful learning about cultural safety, cultural responsiveness, and inclusive communication. HDST is excited to be running the SPOT School Readiness group in both Term 3 and Term 4 2025. These groups will be run by an occupational therapist and speech pathologist, with assistance provided by an allied health assistant (AHA). This group is a great opportunity to practice skills required for in a safe, controlled environment with other children your child’s age. Our clinic has grown over the last decade, from one to now four suites, over 30 staff and a range of allied health services available in person and via Telehealth.

Around 15-30 per cent of people aged 65+ living in the community have a swallowing difficulty, with that figure rising to over 50 per cent for older Australians living in a nursing home. And after falls, choking is the second biggest killer of nursing home residents.

Our team are proud to support those with swallowing difficulties maintain a quality of living that is by their choosing AND one that is safe. Our mission is to work closely with the community in educating and advocating for the needs of those with swallowing challenges.

Save these dates 📅 The school holidays and Easter long weekend are only a few weeks away. HDST will be closed from Friday the 18th of April, and re-open on Tuesday the 22nd of April 2025. We are also closed on ANZAC Day on Friday the 25th of April 2025.
