Eating nuts regularly could improve s***m health, a study suggests.

Men who ate about two handfuls of mixed almonds, hazelnuts and walnuts daily for 14 weeks improved their s***m count and had more viable "swimmers", scientists found.

About one in seven couples have difficulty getting pregnant and about 40-50% of cases of infertility are attributable to men.

How fertile are you?

Twiddling your thumbs and hoping for the positive sign on the test is one thing, but knowledge is everything. And there are lots of ways to assess where you are in your ‘fertility lifeline’. By the time a woman is 36 her chances of conceiving naturally each month is only 15 percent.

And at 45 there is only a 1 percent chance per month for conception. Men’s fertility will also decline but not as steeply as women’s, but there are tests you can do for both.

“A worthwhile measurement is the Anti-Mullerian (AMH) or ‘egg-timer’ test, which can help gauge where your fertility is sitting and whether you should be fast-tracking decisions to start a family,” says Haberecht.

“The AMH test however does not test egg quality, it just lets you know whether your egg reserve is starting to decline. After the age of 35 a woman’s fertility will start to decline more rapidly.”

It’s important to eat properly throughout your entire pregnancy.

During your third trimester (28 weeks-plus), vitamin C, fibre, vitamin K and thiamine (vitamin B1) are especially important. At this stage, you need an extra 500kj each day. Avocado salad is delicious and contains vitamin C, vitamin E and fibre.

Simply slice or dice an avocado, mix with walnuts, vitamin K-rich rocket, and mango slices or orange segments. Add good quality olive oil and eat up

You see, the hormonal changes you experience while pregnant may affect your whole body – including your skin.
So your ni***es and the area around the may go darker. Your skin colour may also darken, either in patches or all over.

Birthmarks, moles and freckles may also darken.
Some women develop a dark line down the middle of their stomach linea nigra.

The good news is, these changes will gradually fade after the baby is born, although your ni***es may remain a little darker for a little while.

There are two types of iron we can consume from foods – iron from animal sources, known as ‘haem iron’ – which is taken up by the body around 10 times better than iron from plant sources, known as ‘non-haem iron’.

For a healthy diet rich in iron, you need to eat at least two serves of red meat, chicken, fish, legumes, or nuts every day.

If you’re vegetarian, you’ll need to shoehorn in wholegrain and iron-fortified bread and cereals, legumes such as kidney beans, lentils, and chickpeas, green leafy veg such as spinach or broccoli and nuts and dried fruit.

During pregnancy always follow dietary advice from your health care team – although offal is high in iron, too much is not recommended as its large amounts of vitamin A can cause birth defects.
