A huge thank you to Qantas for supporting our July trip to Bangalore with additional luggage allowance. This generosity means our team can carry even more story books, menstrual underwear, toys, games, puzzles, and board games for the children and communities we’re partnering with. Small acts of support create big ripples of impact, and we’re so grateful.

We can't wait to see the exciting on the students faces as they discover all the items that have been donated from Australia for their classrooms!

If you have items at home you want to donate, books, toys, games, puzzles or donate some period underwear please contact us on info@akkaproject.org we have suitcases ready to fill!

Big congratulations to one of our Akka Teens- Imali Bamji, announced as a finalist in the NSW Women of the Year Awards 2026 - ones to watch category!

Her commitment to global citizenship is grounded in a simple belief we hold close at Akka: compassion should not have borders. Imali carries that belief into every interaction, creating a space where Aussie and Indian teens grow together, learn from one another and build genuine relationships across cultures.

As we move to the end of the year it has been incredible to reflect on the Akka Project and our amazing 2025 team who laid the foundations of this project. We became united in action and connection, creating a bond that will last a lifetime. I am so proud all of the teens who engaged in this project with their arms wide open and ready to take on all challenges, I am so fiercely proud of them!

Today I plan to meet the next group of interested volunteers as we plan for 2026 and I can't wait to share our vision and stories!

Thank you too all the Akka's!

To one of my hero’s we honour you today and cherish your lessons everyday. I remember meeting you in the 5th grade and at that moment I asked myself what difference can I make. Thank you Jane, we will keep following your guidance at Akka Project.

A Life-Changing Opportunity for Families! ✨🌏

We’re excited to announce the next Akka Project trip 4th to 16th July 2026.

Joining the Akka Project isn’t just travel, it’s about connection, culture, and contribution. Together, families will:

✅ Experience India in a meaningful way, beyond tourism
✅ Volunteer side by side, strengthening bonds while making a difference
✅ Build empathy, resilience, and global awareness in teenagers
✅ Create unforgettable memories that will shape both parent and teen for years to come

💡 What does it involve?

Being part of the Akka Project means stepping into a bigger journey. Families will:
✨ Participate in cultural awareness sessions before and during the trip
✨ Take part in fundraising and gathering resources to support community needs
✨ Collaborate with other teens and parents on group projects
✨ Help with mobilising resources to ensure the impact lasts beyond the trip

💡 Why with your teenager?

Because these shared experiences become powerful turning points. They open hearts, broaden perspectives, and spark conversations about gratitude, leadership, and purpose. Both you and your teen will return home with new friendships, stories, and a deeper understanding of the world and of each other.

📅 Dates: 4th – 16th July 2026

📚✨ School holidays are just around the corner!
Got any plans yet? Need to keep the kids busy? Here’s an idea…

If your kids have outgrown some of their books, why not encourage them to declutter, tidy up, and donate to children in India who are eager to read and learn? 🌏❤️

Even better—have them write a special note inside the book to inspire and connect with the child who receives it. 💌

A tidy room + a good cause = the perfect plan
