This might look like something as simple as kids being able to borrow books from a library but it’s so much more! For many years the library was not a place filled with books to explore. So now thanks to all our Aussie donations the shelves are filled with books and now the school has a borrowing procedure in place! It’s exciting to think about what this means for the kids at Koramangala school as they select books to read at home!

Thank You to Our First Akka Project Team!

To the 16 incredible mothers and teenagers who became the heartbeat of our very first Akka Project trip, thank you.

You poured your time, energy, and love into collecting resources, raising funds, packing countless donations, and carrying them all the way to India. And once you arrived, you didn’t stop for a moment.

For 10 days straight, you brought joy and laughter into classrooms, restocked an entire library, delivered empowering menstrual health lessons, and made sure every activity — big or small — was filled with care and respect for the students and communities we are privileged to support.

Your kindness, hard work, and determination have left a mark that will last far beyond this trip. You showed what’s possible when people come together with open hearts and willing hands. Also a very big thank you to the Parikrma teachers that opened your classrooms to us. You are all hero’s everyday it was a privilege to be in your classrooms. The Parikrma staff that supported all the coordination of this project you went above and beyond and nothing was to challenging, you made it all possible.

Thank you for setting the bar so high and showing the true spirit of Akka Project. We can’t wait to see what we’ll achieve together next. 💛🌍✨

Big big thank you to all of you that within just a few days of posting a request for books dropped books off at our teams front door so we could deliver it to India and create a new library ready to inspire minds.

Period power in action!

At Akka Project, we believe every girl deserves to go to school with confidence and dignity, every day of the month. This week, our Aussie teens and mothers joined Parikrma students for an important session on period awareness and empowerment, proudly supported by generous donations of period underwear from TOM Organic and our wonderful community.

We can’t thank our community in Australia enough for donating underwear at their schools or our door steps.QantasTogether we provided 500 girls with period underwear and collected over 1,200 underwear which thanks to Qantas we could pack in our suitcases to India.

By introducing reusable period underwear, we’re not just helping girls manage their periods safely we’re fighting period poverty, reducing the cost burden on families, and making a real impact on the environment by cutting down single-use sanitary waste.

More than anything, it was powerful to see young women from two different worlds connect, learn, and remind each other that periods aren’t a weakness, they’re part of the strength we share as women.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible. Together, we’re changing the conversation and the future.

🌸 **Support Our Period Underwear Drive!** 🌸

Our amazing team of mothers and teen volunteers is kicking off a collection for period underwear! Together, we aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need, and we’d love your support.

It’s as simple as this: during your weekly grocery shop, consider adding one pair of period underwear to your basket. Every single contribution, big or small, makes a world of difference.

Your kindness means the world to us, and we would be endlessly grateful for your help. For more details on how to contribute, please check out the attached information. 💕

Let’s work together to uplift and empower! ❤️
