Policing is a job that changes lives in so many ways. We can’t thank you enough for your services to our communities every single day 🙏🏼
Today we especially want to honour those who have given it all to protect others. To them, and their loved ones, we thank you and remember you.

Your story is about “what has happened to you, not what is wrong with you”.
So many poignant themes touched on so briefly but brilliantly.

Lest We Forget. The courage, the sacrifice and the spirit of the ANZACs that lives on.

Thank you to all those who have served and continue to serve, as well as the families that serve alongside you.

Today is a day to pause and notice the freedom that we live in and the immeasurable privilege that this is. This freedom didn’t come for free and thank you will never be enough 🙏🏽

Ahead of ANZAC Day, I hope that all those who have served, and their families, spend the day doing whatever it is that you need to. You’ve done enough, you can mark the day in whatever way is meaningful and manageable for you. Sometimes this may mean not marking the day externally at all and just getting by. It is a day where we stand beside you and to honour you. Thank you for your service and the service of your family in support.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to do some experiential training by completing the HUET course (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training). It was so helpful to be able to increase my understanding of what this entails by actually doing it myself. Not only do I have a better understanding of what those in the aviation industry have go through by doing HUET, I also hope that I’m better able to assist others who might find this confronting.

It was both intensely challenging and exhilarating at the same time! I left buzzing and in awe of the team’s ability to step participants through this training in such a skillful manner... especially such a novice like me!

A huge thank you to the team at the ACE Training Centre & Toll Ambulance Rescue, as well as Thrive Institute, for this opportunity. My sinuses have recovered and I’m looking forward to catching up with the team on base again tomorrow!

Thankful for those who put themselves on the frontline everyday to keep us safe. Today we pause to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our communities. I also take a moment to be grateful to those who continue to live on while impacted by the work they have done. Thank you is not enough.

👏🏼 Brilliant news QLD! 👏🏼 workers from specific roles will no longer need to prove their psychological injury is work-related. A process that has previously been so traumatic for many.

So pleased to see a broader range of organizations this will be applied to, as well as the acknowledgment of the impact of hearing graphic details, not just seeing them.

Let’s hope this becomes the national norm 🤞🏼

*TRIGGER WARNING: graphic details of multiple events. Skip to the end for the outcome of this decision.

First responders experiencing PTSD will no longer have to prove their injury was caused by their work when seeking workers compensation, after Queensland parliament passes legislation that has cross-party support.

This quote really made me stop. This is how trauma plays out and how we come to respond in ways that reinforce the hurt. If we can just come back to understanding the trauma & the impact then we can understand so much about how we relate.
