Pessary fitting for support and management of Pelvic Organ Prolapse is one of the biggest services we offer at The Physiotherapy Clinic. We are passionate about these devices because we see (everyday!) how powerful they can be for women.

A pessary might be an option for you if you are feeling heaviness or a bulge vaginally. A pessary might be something you use all of the time or just for exercise or maybe just before your period.

Our team are trained in fitting and managing these silicone devices, so if that sounds like you, please reach out 🙏🏻

Life After Prostate Surgery: What to Expect & How Physio Can Help

Did you know that urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction (ED) are very common after a radical prostatectomy?

But here’s the good news: pelvic floor physio can play a big role in improving your symptoms!

Let’s break it down 💣

Why does incontinence happen?

During prostate removal, the bladder and urethra are repositioned, and some of the muscles and nerves that help control urination may be affected. This can lead to leaking, especially when coughing, sneezing, or lifting.

Why does erectile dysfunction happen?

The nerves responsible for erections run very close to the prostate. Even with nerve-sparing techniques, these nerves can be stretched or damaged, affecting blood flow and muscle coordination involved in erections.

Physio can help by 👇🏼

✅ Pelvic floor muscle assessment and training using transperineal real time ultrasound
✅ Bladder training & lifestyle strategies
✅ Education & support from a trained pelvic health physio

We’re loving our time at the World Congress on Endometriosis 2025 💛

One standout study by Coxon et al. (2024) has really stayed with us, because it highlights how women don’t always seek care when they are in the most pain.

They explored symptom flares in women with chronic pelvic pain (CPP) and found:
🔹 Over 60% said flares stopped them from doing things they’d usually do
🔹 More than 80% thought constantly about their symptoms during a flare
🔹 Over 80% found flares extremely bothersome
🔹 80–90% didn’t reach out for help, many felt it wouldn’t be useful or had been dismissed before

👉 These flares are real, common, and deeply disruptive. If this is something you regularly deal with, we are here to help!

We take a whole body approach to your treatment which may include pelvic floor treatment for bladder, bowel, and sexual function, or whole-body treatment — from your feet, pelvis, abdomen, and thorax to your head, neck, and jaw — because endometriosis affects the whole body, not just one part.

We are committed to providing care that listens, adapts, and actually helps you in the everyday, and especially in a flare. 💛
