A heartfelt thank you to the Ducati Owners Club of NSW for their incredible $20,000 donation presented at their fundraising event this week.

For 47 years, the unwavering support of DOCNSW has helped us continue our mission — to create a world without limits for people living with disability, injury or illness. We are so grateful for this generous donation and look forward to using this contribution to support those who need it most.

A Future of Possibility: Exploring a New Partnership

We’re excited to share that Royal Rehab Group is exploring a potential merger with Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA): a respected not-for-profit with more than 50 years of leadership in peer-led programs, advocacy and lived experience.

In an increasingly complex healthcare and disability landscape, we believe now is the time to think boldly. This potential partnership is about bringing together our strengths - Royal Rehab’s clinical and rehabilitation expertise with SCIA’s lived experience and community leadership - to create something stronger, more connected, and more impactful.

We are still in the early stages, but we’re guided by a shared vision:
* Better access to services in more locations
* A unified voice to drive real change
* A care model that genuinely puts people first

Together, we have an opportunity to build something truly special - a future shaped by purpose and powered by people.

Kids of Royal Rehab (KORR) Day

We were thrilled to recently host our Kids of Royal Rehab (KORR) School Holiday program, a fun and meaningful day for children who have a loved one living with a traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury.

The day offered a safe and supportive space to connect with others, share experiences, and gain a better understanding of their family member’s journey. Activities included wheelchair sports, exploring assistive technology and mobility aids, creating personalised “Feel Better Bags”, and having open conversations about big feelings.

One participant described it as “the best day ever!”

The KORR program runs every school holiday period, and we look forward to welcoming more kids to future sessions.

The Cairns Marathon Festival was a sea of orange on Sunday! A huge thank you to everyone who showed up and proudly represented Royal Rehab LifeWorks.

A special shoutout to our amazing client Matthew Caruana from Royal Rehab LifeWorks Ryde, who flew up from Sydney to demo the EksoNR exoskeleton, one of over 35 cutting-edge rehab technologies we use across our centers to support people with neurological conditions.

At Royal Rehab LifeWorks, we’re all about combining care, expertise and innovation to help people get the most out of their rehab journey.

What a day! 🧡

Royal Rehab LifeWorks is excited to be part of the action this weekend at the Cairns Marathon Festival as the proud sponsors of the 5KM walk!

Our client Matt Caruana will be out there demonstrating the EksoNR robotic exoskeleton; a seriously impressive piece of rehab tech that’s helping people with spinal cord injury, stroke, and other neurological conditions.

Matt was featured on Channel 7 News last night alongside Royal Rehab LifeWorks Ryde physiotherapist Joel Chan and Royal Rehab LifeWorks Community Executive Director James Dakin.

It’s a great reminder of what’s possible when the right support, determination and technology come together.

NAIDOC Week at Royal Rehab Group

NAIDOC Week is a time to reflect, to listen, and to honour the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the world’s oldest continuing cultures.

This year marks a significant milestone: 50 years of NAIDOC. The 2025 theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” is a powerful reminder that the future is being shaped by young First Nations leaders, grounded in the strength of their ancestors, inspired by the vision of their communities, and driven to carry forward a proud legacy.

At Royal Rehab Group, we recognise that true healing extends beyond the physical. It’s about connection, to land, to culture, to each other. It's about listening to the voices of First Nations people and supporting a future shaped by self-determination, cultural strength, and community-led leadership.

As we mark this milestone NAIDOC Week, we reaffirm our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, standing with First Nations peoples in their continued fight for justice, equality, and recognition. And we celebrate the next generation: strong, visionary, and ready to lead.

Together, we honour the past, stand with the present, and look ahead with hope.

After a brain injury, leaving hospital is often just the beginning of a long and arduous journey.
Many people go home needing vital equipment, home modifications or therapy—but not everyone qualifies for funding.
That’s where the Royal Rehab Foundation steps in.
With your support, we’ve funded life-changing essentials. From driving assessments to adaptive bike trainers, we've given people the tools to reclaim their independence. But to continue doing this, we need your help.
By donating to the Royal Rehab Foundation, you'll be helping to change someone's life. Every dollar makes a difference and donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week 2025. It's a time for all Australians to reflect, learn, and take meaningful steps toward a more united future.
Royal Rehab Group acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of this land, and we pay deep respect to Elders past, present, and emerging. Their enduring connection to Country, culture, and community continues to enrich our nation.
This week reminds us that reconciliation is not a single moment, but an ongoing journey. A truly reconciled Australia can only be realised when First Nations peoples are empowered to contribute equally and meaningfully to our national life.
At Royal Rehab Group, we are committed to deepening our understanding, strengthening relationships, and embedding sustainable, long-term actions that drive real change across our organisation and beyond.

Our Story

Royal Rehab is led by an experienced and specialised team dedicated to maximising the life skills, abilities and independence of people living with a disability.

Founded in 1899 through a visionary act of philanthropy, Royal Rehab was formed to give hope, comfort and connection to hospital patients discharged as “incurable”, often with no family, money or ability to work.

Today, more than 100 years on, Royal Rehab continues to lead the way in clinical, research and teaching excellence and person-centred rehabilitation and disability support.

Royal Rehab’s innovative projects, programs and services employs a model of rehabilitation that takes recovery beyond the traditional clinical environment and integrates it with activities in everyday life to promote community participation and independence.
