A Future of Possibility: Exploring a New Partnership
We’re excited to share that Royal Rehab Group is exploring a potential merger with Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA): a respected not-for-profit with more than 50 years of leadership in peer-led programs, advocacy and lived experience.
In an increasingly complex healthcare and disability landscape, we believe now is the time to think boldly. This potential partnership is about bringing together our strengths - Royal Rehab’s clinical and rehabilitation expertise with SCIA’s lived experience and community leadership - to create something stronger, more connected, and more impactful.
We are still in the early stages, but we’re guided by a shared vision:
* Better access to services in more locations
* A unified voice to drive real change
* A care model that genuinely puts people first
Together, we have an opportunity to build something truly special - a future shaped by purpose and powered by people.
Stunt pilot and Royal Rehab Ryde patient Glenn Collins shares his story of survival and recovery following a harrowing crash at the Avalon Airshow earlier this year.
We were thrilled to recently host our Kids of Royal Rehab (KORR) School Holiday program, a fun and meaningful day for children who have a loved one living with a traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury.
The day offered a safe and supportive space to connect with others, share experiences, and gain a better understanding of their family member’s journey. Activities included wheelchair sports, exploring assistive technology and mobility aids, creating personalised “Feel Better Bags”, and having open conversations about big feelings.
One participant described it as “the best day ever!”
The KORR program runs every school holiday period, and we look forward to welcoming more kids to future sessions.

Royal Rehab LifeWorks is excited to be part of the action this weekend at the Cairns Marathon Festival as the proud sponsors of the 5KM walk!
Our client Matt Caruana will be out there demonstrating the EksoNR robotic exoskeleton; a seriously impressive piece of rehab tech that’s helping people with spinal cord injury, stroke, and other neurological conditions.
Matt was featured on Channel 7 News last night alongside Royal Rehab LifeWorks Ryde physiotherapist Joel Chan and Royal Rehab LifeWorks Community Executive Director James Dakin.
It’s a great reminder of what’s possible when the right support, determination and technology come together.
NAIDOC Week is a time to reflect, to listen, and to honour the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the world’s oldest continuing cultures.
This year marks a significant milestone: 50 years of NAIDOC. The 2025 theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” is a powerful reminder that the future is being shaped by young First Nations leaders, grounded in the strength of their ancestors, inspired by the vision of their communities, and driven to carry forward a proud legacy.
At Royal Rehab Group, we recognise that true healing extends beyond the physical. It’s about connection, to land, to culture, to each other. It's about listening to the voices of First Nations people and supporting a future shaped by self-determination, cultural strength, and community-led leadership.
As we mark this milestone NAIDOC Week, we reaffirm our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, standing with First Nations peoples in their continued fight for justice, equality, and recognition. And we celebrate the next generation: strong, visionary, and ready to lead.
Together, we honour the past, stand with the present, and look ahead with hope.

Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week 2025. It's a time for all Australians to reflect, learn, and take meaningful steps toward a more united future.
Royal Rehab Group acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of this land, and we pay deep respect to Elders past, present, and emerging. Their enduring connection to Country, culture, and community continues to enrich our nation.
This week reminds us that reconciliation is not a single moment, but an ongoing journey. A truly reconciled Australia can only be realised when First Nations peoples are empowered to contribute equally and meaningfully to our national life.
At Royal Rehab Group, we are committed to deepening our understanding, strengthening relationships, and embedding sustainable, long-term actions that drive real change across our organisation and beyond.
