Sometimes what looks like ADHD…
might actually be poor quality sleep.

Wired, impulsive, emotional, unable to focus, constantly “on” these behaviours can often be linked to fragmented sleep and airway issues that go unnoticed.

In this episode, Jessica is joined by Natasha Duffin from Whole Child Co to unpack the connection between sleep quality, mouth breathing, oral function, and ADHD-like behaviours in children.

Because kids don’t always look tired when they’re exhausted.

Often, it shows up as hyperactivity, emotional dysregulation, poor focus, fussy eating, restless sleep, bedwetting, or waking up with their mouth open.

This conversation is such an important reminder that sleep quality matters just as much as sleep quantity.

And sometimes, the missing piece is not more behaviour strategies.
It is understanding what is happening overnight.

If your child is mouth breathing, snoring, sleeping restlessly, or struggling with focus and regulation during the day, this is a must-listen episode.

💬 Comment “PODCAST” and we’ll send you the episode link 🎧 along with Natasha’s sleep membership waitlist for deeper support with your child’s sleep 💚

I’m all for reducing mum guilt…
but the recent Jay Shetty conversation on breastfeeding didn’t sit right with me, because I think we’re missing something important.

In the first year of life, a baby’s microbiome is developing rapidly and influencing immune function, skin health, digestion, and more. Breastfeeding is one of the key ways this system is supported, not just through nutrition, but through immune and microbiome-building components.

That doesn’t mean breastfeeding is always possible, or that mums should feel any guilt if it doesn’t work out.
But reducing guilt shouldn’t come at the cost of oversimplifying the science.

When we move too far toward “it doesn’t really matter,” we risk losing sight of what is actually shaping a child’s health from the very beginning.

We can support mums and acknowledge the very real challenges of breastfeeding, while still understanding the role it plays in early development.

Did you hear the recent Jay Shetty conversation on breastfeeding?

I’d love to hear what you took from it.

If your child has eczema…

You’ve probably been given creams to manage the flare-ups.

And while they can help in the short term…

They don’t address why it keeps coming back.

Because eczema isn’t just about the skin.

It’s often connected to what’s happening inside the body.
👉 Gut imbalances
👉 Food reactions
👉 Environmental triggers (like dust mites)
👉 Histamine load

These can keep the immune system in a constant state of reactivity…

Which shows up on the skin as redness, itching and flare-ups.

So instead of only asking: “Which cream should we use?”

It’s worth asking:
❓ Why is the immune system so reactive in the first place?

This is exactly what we support families with in our online clinic.... getting to the root cause, not just managing symptoms.

If you’re ready for a different approach…

Comment SUPPORT and we’ll send you the details.

Most of us have been told that our kids are overstimulated.

Too much noise.
Too many activities.
Too much going on.

But what if that’s not the full picture?

What if some of what we’re seeing…
the meltdowns, the restlessness, the emotional ups and downs…
is actually coming from a lack of something they really need?

Less time in nature.
Less free, unstructured play.
Less of that full-body, sensory input that helps kids feel calm, regulated and grounded.

Because when kids are outside, moving, exploring, climbing, getting messy.
Their nervous system settles.
Their mood lifts.
Their bodies get the input they’ve been craving.

And we see it all the time…
kids who seem “too much” indoors feel completely different outside.
It’s such a powerful reframe, and one that can change how you support your child day to day.

If this has you thinking differently about your child…

👉 Comment PODCAST and I’ll send you the episode where we dive deeper into this (it’s such an eye-opener).

If you’ve been told your child might need microbiome testing…

or you’ve gone down a Google rabbit hole trying to figure out their gut health…

This is important to understand 👇

Microbiome testing in children is not straightforward.
And right now?

A lot of it is being overinterpreted or misinterpreted.
We see it all the time:
→ Parents told their child has “leaky gut” based on a single marker
→ Long lists of supplements
→ Restrictive diets that don’t actually address the root cause

Not because anyone is doing the wrong thing on purpose, but because children’s microbiomes are completely different to adults.

They change rapidly with age.
What’s “normal” at one stage may not be at another.

And results only make sense when you look at the whole picture ... symptoms, diet, history, and more.

This is exactly why our practitioner team completed advanced mentorship and became Certified Paediatric Microbiome Clinicians

To refine, validate, and deepen how we interpret testing in kids.
Because when used correctly, microbiome testing can be incredibly helpful.

But when used without the right lens?

It can lead to confusion, unnecessary protocols, and missed answers.
So whether you’re:
• considering testing
• feeling unsure if your child even needs it
• or trying to make sense of conflicting advice

We can help guide you 🤍

This week on the podcast, I had a really interesting conversation with Nikki from about risky play…

and where we might need to shift our perspective as parents.

If we limit risky play… and cotton wool our kids too much…we’re actually putting them in more danger… physically, mentally and online.

Because safety isn’t just about avoiding risk…It’s about learning how to handle it.

When kids don't get enough opportunity for risky play they miss out on learning

how their body moves
how to read their environment
how to make decisions in real time

Small risks in the early years… mean fewer serious risks later.

If you would like to listen, Comment PODCAST and we will send you the link

She didn’t know it yet…

But the little girl dancing on stage, mixing backyard potions, or navigating her own challenges with food and health would one day grow into the practitioner families turn to for support.

This practitioner edition is such a beautiful reminder that the work we do today is often rooted in the experiences that shaped us early on.

Behind every practitioner is a story.
A childhood curiosity.
A personal struggle.
A moment that quietly planted the seed for the work they now do.

Years later, those early experiences have grown into deep knowledge, compassion, and a passion for helping children thrive.

Because sometimes the very things that shaped us as kids become the reason we are so deeply called to support others.

We’d love to know, what part of your childhood now makes sense in the work you do today? ✨

I’m really curious about this 👀

I’m seeing more and more parents turning to AI for things like:
– what to feed a fussy eater
– possible causes of eczema, allergies or gut issues
– ideas to support immunity
- meal planning

I totally get it.
It’s quick, it’s accessible, and it can be really helpful for certain things related to health or nutrition.

But I also wonder if sometimes it:
– feels a bit generic
– becomes overwhelming
– or leaves you second guessing what’s actually right for your child

So I’d love to know…

Have you used AI (like ChatGPT) when it comes to your child’s health or nutrition?

👇 Tell me in the comments:
– Yes, and I’ve found it helpful
– Yes, but it’s been a bit confusing
– Not yet, but I’ve thought about it

No right or wrong here, I think it’s an interesting conversation and would love to know more about what you might be using AI for when it comes to your families health or nutrition.

You may have gone for a walk today…
but did it actually feel like a break?

In this episode, we explore a concept called soft fascination
and how it can completely change the way your brain experiences everyday moments.

It’s what happens when your attention gently moves
from one thing to another… without pressure or stimulation.

Not scrolling.
Not listening.
Not multitasking.
Just noticing.

This is how your brain can start to reset.

These kinds of small shifts can do wonders for your nervous system.

• What soft fascination really is
• Why your brain needs these slower, quieter moments
• Simple ways to make your walks more restorative

You probably don’t need to add another thing to your self care routine.

Most parents feel like they need to 'add more self care' to help them feel less overwhelmed.

In this conversation, Jodi Wilson shares a different approach…
not what to add in, but what to remove.

Because most of our brains are overwhelmed from constant input.

Even something as simple as walking without headphones
can create a moment your nervous system has been missing.

No learning.
No catching up.
No filling the gap.

Just a quiet reset your body can actually feel.

It might feel unfamiliar at first.

But that space is where things begin to settle.

🎧 I adored this chat with Jodi, we explore:
• Why doing more isn’t the answer to burnout
• The impact of constant stimulation on your brain
• Small ways to create space in a full day
