I remember when I started delving even deeper into somatics, embodiment and being a highly sensitive person after completing my 200hr Yoga Teaching Training via in 2018.

I felt so raw.

Open.

Unsure.

Scared - quite frankly.

Of feeling SOO much.

(And others not getting it!)

And then a dear mentor .mcconachy shared this quote with me in one of our integration sessions after returning back to Aus.

It has been such an anchor ever since.

For my own healing but also to continue to show up in the world and in the work I do here at MC.

A reminder that us sensitive souls need now more than ever.

Rest gently and expansively now Joanna Macy ❤️Thank you for your insights, your words, your wisdom which will continue to live on and support humanity when we need it most.

And to my lineage of teachers, guides and mentors - thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏🙏🙏

The other day, something small happened that really got me thinking about the nervous system.

Our back door—after a very long time of squeaking with that awful, nails-on-a-chalkboard sound—was finally fixed.

But even with the noise gone, I noticed my body still bracing.

My shoulders tensed.

My breath caught.

I winced - expecting the sound that never came.

And it made me remember,

How often are we still bracing for things that aren’t there anymore?

This is what the nervous system does when it’s been in high-alert for a long time. Even once the “threat” is gone, our bodies might not feel it yet.
They still contract, prepare, tighten—because that reaction became normal.

Expected.

Safe, in a way.

This is hypervigilance.

This is protection that outlasts the actual threat.

And this is why many sensitive, anxious, overwhelmed women I work with say:

🌿 “I feel on edge for no reason.”
🌿 “I can't switch off—even when nothing’s wrong.”
🌿 “I keep waiting for something bad to happen.”

Your body isn’t wrong.
It’s remembering.
It’s protecting.
And it might just need gentle, repeated reminders that it’s safe now.

That’s the work we do here at Mindfully Curious—
not forcing the body to feel better, but learning how to feel at all, so it can stop living in a loop of old alerts.

We bring in softness, breath, presence. Where we can.

We notice where you’re still tensing against things that no longer exist.

And we start offering the body a different experience.

An experience that over time says you are safe, worthy and connected.

So the reminder as always - You’re not too much. You’re not making it up. You’ve just been bracing for a long time.

And it’s okay to exhale now - when you choose, when you are ready🌻

The doors to Reconnect have closed for now but the energy of the program is still very much alive.

Because I truly believe that when we share something with the world—whether it’s a program, a boundary, or a truth—we’re also invited to embody it ourselves.

So during this launch, I kept returning to the exact same practices I share with my clients:

🌿 Resting without guilt
🌿 Soothing my nervous system
🌿 Trusting my own pace
🌿 Softening instead of pushing

It wasn’t always graceful (or as successful as I would have liked!)—but it was real. And I want you to know that this work isn’t just something I teach, it’s something I live too.

So even if you didn’t join this round of Reconnect, these reminders are still for you too:

🌻 You’re allowed to slow down
🌻 You’re allowed to be in the messy middle
🌻 You’re allowed to come back to yourself again and again

This work doesn’t just have to live inside a course—it gets to live inside you (and isn't that just the whole point, right?).

So, if you feel ready to explore this more personally, 1:1 support is available. You can learn more at mindfullycurious.org, or reach out if you’d like a gentle space to land ☺️

Also, don't forget the wide range of resources and workshops (both paid and free available!) on my website as well. There’s no pressure—just an open door, if and when it feels right for you.

I can't wait to connect soon! Monique

One of the biggest lessons Trauma Sensitive Yoga has taught me over the years is how to say "no".

No to pushing through.

No to ignoring my needs.

No to just "finding a way" or "making it work" even when it feels forced.

No to numbing out.

No to putting someone else's experience or suggestions above my own.

It is through the EMBODIMENT of saying no with our body that we can begin to shift the people pleasing/appeasing stress response that often comes so automatically to so many of us who have experienced complex and relational trauma.

Is people pleasing something you find yourself constantly struggling with?

No matter how many times you try to change it and you find yourself in the same cycle over and over again?

We can cognitively "know" the information and what to do but my goshhh it is a whole other thing to feel it, embody and TRULY make lasting changes in our life!

So, this is your beautiful, gentle, friendly reminder that registrations for Reconnect 🌿 (my online, 10 week Trauma Sensitive Yoga and coaching course) closes tonight.

If you are wanting to;

🌻reduce stress and anxiety
🌻nurture your nervous system
🌻honour your self care needs
🌻be more present in your life
🌻be more kind to yourself
🌻embrace rest and relaxation

Then this is the space for you!

All you need to bring to the space is a willingness, openness and curiosity for your mind and body.

Week 1's content drops on Thursday and I would love you to join us!

Multiple payment options, NDIS funding, Workers Compensation and partial (50%) grant spaces are all still available to support you to say yes if it is feeling aligned for you.

For all the info and to register head to www.mindfullycurious.org/reconnect

Of course, if you have any questions do comment, DM or send me an email at info@mindfullycurious.org

Acknowledging those curious, brave souls who have already said Yes and looking forward to welcoming those of you in these final hours 😊

Over the weekend I went to a Winter Solstice, Women's Circle retreat facilitated by .

And it was hard to say yes to.

It was tricky to navigate the puzzle pieces of life to make the space and create the time.

I had to push back on the guilt surrounding me and within myself.

And yet I landed there.

Imperfect.

Messy.

Holding many emotions, many sensations, and yet I arrived with the intention of time for myself.

As we went into the yin yoga portion of the day, I was not comfortable.

Did I arrive at a place of bliss and relaxation by the end? Absolutely not.

Did I feel wired? Yes.

Did I notice activating sensations in the body? Yes.

Did I get-up-and-go to the toilet in the middle of it? Yes.

All this to say that I arrived and the practice was not about bliss and relaxation or about calming the nervous system (as we often assume or put pressure on these classes/spaces/ourselves to be).

In fact, it was again that invitation to meet myself exactly where I was at.

Not making myself wrong, not judging.

Being with me.

And when I couldn't be, I had the understanding and tools to;

🌻 Notice where I was in relation to my Window of Tolerance and

🌻 the strategies/choices I could make to either down-regulate (when wired, activated, anxious) or up-regulate (numb, shut down, dissociated)

to continue to stay in a practice that supported me in the moment.

And this ☝️

This is part of the intention I have set up and offer in my online 10 week Trauma Sensitive Yoga and coaching program, Reconnect 🌿 so that you can arrive in any community yoga class without abandoning yourself, needing to push through or, worst case, flood the Nervous System and reinforce trauma/stress/anxiety patterns in the body.

So if you've been looking at a place to meet yourself, not to relax, not to calm the nervous system (though these may absolutely be benefits you find!), but learn ways to support yourself moment to moment, to make effective choices for you then I invite you to join me.

We start in just over a week's time!

Registrations close in 1 week and I would love to meet you, explore and support you beginning JULY 3rd!

Head to www.mindfullycurious.org/reconnect for all the info and to sign up.

Payment plans, NDIS, Workers Compensation and partial grants all still available to support you (email or PM me if you would like to find out more).

Over and over I get asked the same question - what exactly is Trauma-Sensitive Yoga and how is it different from other types of yoga? So let's clear that up shall we 👇👇

Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TSY) is a unique and tailored approach, designed for individuals who have experienced trauma, anxiety, and stress. It's a practice rooted in empathy, understanding, and gentle invitations —which can be quite different from traditional yoga classes that may focus solely on physical fitness, postures and "pushing through" to meet your edge/ultimate capacity 🥵

🧘‍♀️The principles of TSY (which are the foundations in our Reconnect course) include:

🌿INTEROCEPTION (Sensing the Body): We invite you to be curious about your internal world at your own pace so you can learn and understand your Nervous System more.

🌿CHOICE-MAKING: We invite the constant question of what feels right for you, what aligns with your needs in each moment and inviting a sense of control and agency over your experience moment to moment.

🌿TAKING EFFECTIVE ACTION: TSY isn't about complex shapes or sequences, instead it's about gentle, intentional movements that foster emotional support and self-compassion.

🌿PRESENCE: Mindfulness is at the heart of our practice. It's about being fully present in each moment. No right or wrong.

🤝 There's no rush, no competition—just a genuine focus on what feels comfortable and safe for your body and your experience. It's a space where you can really be as you need to be (hello nourishing self care!) 🤗

Reconnect is more than just a 10 week program of stress management strategies. It has been designed to nurture, provide space and choices in our hectic, overwhelming world - a sanctuary of well-being, a place where you can reconnect with your mind and body.

If you're seeking a gentle, compassionate approach to support you in your daily life, you're in the right place 🌻

Are you ready to embrace the gentle power of trauma-sensitive yoga in the nurturing space of Reconnect? 🌿

Registrations are now open and I would love you to join us 💃 We begin July 3rd in just two weeks time!

“You seem like you’re doing so well. Running a business, raising kids, holding space for others… how do you do it all?”

Truth? I don’t. Not all at once. Not always well. And certainly not without cost.

I want to gently say this to the women who follow this space and quietly believe I’ve “figured it out”:

I still feel exhausted.

I still forget to rest.

I still lose myself in overdoing, people-pleasing, rushing.

And I come back—over and over again—to what I teach here at Mindfully Curious.

Not because I’ve mastered it, but because it matters.

The truth is, I wobble too.

Sometimes I feel grounded and aligned.

Other days I am doing what it takes just to get through. Literally...just to get through..

But here’s what I want you to know:

🌿 Healing doesn’t mean never struggling again.
🌿 Nervous system regulation isn’t about staying calm 24/7.
🌿 Being a therapist, coach, or mother doesn’t mean I never fall apart.

It means I’ve built practices to return to myself when I do.

Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. And that's also ok. It's part of being human, after all.

That’s what I want for you—not perfection, but permission.

To pause.

To soften where or if you can.

To stop performing being “fine.” (Gosh - ain't that masking a very real and automatic thing!)

To rest and repair, even when the world tells you to keep going.

You don’t need to be more productive or positive or put-together.

I invite that perhaps you need something else;

Perhaps, you need space.

Or safety.

Or even just someone to remind you that even here—messy, tired, uncertain—you are enough.

And that’s the work we do together here at MC.

Messy, unfiltered and real.

And I am so glad I get to figure it out alongside you!

For all the ways MC can support you, head to my website www.mindfullycurious.org

I can't wait to connect with you soon.

If you’ve ever believed that healing means "never feeling anxious again," "always being calm," or "finally fixing yourself"…
I want to gently offer a reframe. 🌿

Healing isn’t about becoming symptom-free.
It’s about becoming free to live, even when symptoms show up.

For many of the women I support—who’ve spent years people-pleasing, living in their heads, and pushing through burnout—this reframe brings both relief and grief.

Relief, because maybe there's nothing broken in you.

Grief, because it means the path forward isn’t about control or perfection. It’s about connection—to your body, your values, your truth.

From a somatic perspective, this means learning to notice and tend to your nervous system responses without needing them to go away. (yep - sorry, not sorry!)

From an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) perspective, this means making space for uncomfortable emotions—like guilt, fear, or doubt—while still choosing actions that align with who and what matters most to you.

It’s not always easy. But it can be deeply empowering.

This can look like:

🌻Connecting to your breath before saying “yes” to something that feels like a “no.”
🌻 Feeling your shoulders relax when you finally name what you need.
🌻 Making decisions from a place of self-trust, not urgency (that is, knowing the difference between rescuing and actually wanting to help).
🌻 Learning to rest without guilt.
🌻 Living in your body, not just your mind.

This is the work we do here at MC.

Not to eliminate all stress, but to support you in meeting life with presence, compassion, and choice.

You are not here to be perfect.

You’re here to live.

Connected.

Empowered.

Whole.

For all the ways MC can support you are so welcome to visit our digital home at www.mindfullycurious.org

I look forward to connecting soon!
