One of the biggest mistakes we see in clinic and training is treating pigmentation as if it’s all the same. But it isn’t.

Pigmentation comes in many forms – different depths, different triggers, and different behaviours. If you don’t correctly identify the type, treatments often fall short. What delivers excellent results for superficial pigment may barely affect deep dermal pigment. And conditions like melasma bring their own unique challenges.

Here’s the key nuance:
While we often categorise pigmentation into five groups – epidermal, dermal, mixed, post-inflammatory (PIH), and melasma – real-life skin is rarely this neat. You may see epidermal pigment migrating into the dermis, or melasma with both superficial and deeper components.

This is why a thorough consultation and skin assessment is essential.
At our clinic we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. We assess your pigment’s depth, pattern, and triggering factors, then tailor the right technology and treatment plan for your skin.
