This book is for everyone who wants to change their body into a new machine. Mostly it will be applied to those who want to lose weight. Semantically, “losing weight” is not the preferred label for the process, but typically during the process of building your machine, body mass is lost; plus, most people can relate to the words. This book offers a rethinking of the weight loss process. The core c
oncept: Dieting is simpler than you think, but you must first decide what you want your future self to be. This concept is unique to TKM and is the secret to sustaining the achieved results. No more losing 10 pounds then gaining 15, for example. This book will explain why that happened and why it won’t with TKM. The Method can be tailored to your life. Nothing is off the (literal) table, not even your favourite vices. The key word you will see throughout this book is BALANCE. The proverbial “catch”? You will require two abilities: 1. Patience; and 2. Honest number tracking. Patience should be easy by now, especially since you’ve already proven to yourself that rushing any weight loss has bitten you in your giant arse! Patience also has a platinum lining: mainly, your skin won’t look like a loose sack covering your machine once you’ve hit the final stage. RE #2, I’ve thrown the word “honest” in there based on my own experience in “forgetting” the tea I had at brekky or the bikky I grabbed at work or the glass of red I had at dinner. You will be tracking every single thing that goes in your gob. You will be tracking every bit of exercise. Right now as you read this, you may be thinking “WHAT? NO WAY! Is this just another “diet” telling me to calorie-count??” Well, calorie counting is part of it, but if that alone worked for you, you wouldn’t need to read this book, right? The other main key to differentiating this “diet” from others is the taking into account the other imperative numbers to keep in balance: protein, carbohydrates, fat, sugar, and salt. Despite all the diets spewed out on our morning television shows, afternoon talk shows, and midnight infomercials, the world continues to get fatter and fatter. On July 9, 2013, the UN reported Mexico as the new developed-world leader in obesity at 32.8% of the adult population aged 20 and over. On July 10, the U.S. (31.8%) jumped on the news in celebration, no longer being at the top of the heap. Instead, they should’ve jumped a bit more and thrown a few push-ups in there as well, IMHO. The bronze went to Syria at 31.6% in case you’re wondering, with Australia coming in at “lucky” 21st place at a lower-but-still-whopping 25.1%. [Appendix Item]
The World Health Organization updated their Obesity and Overweight Fact Sheet in March 2013, reporting that worldwide obesity has nearly doubled since 1980. Overweight and obesity are the fifth leading risk for global deaths. At least 2.8 million adults die each year as a result of being overweight or obese. In addition, 44% of the diabetes burden, 23% of the ischaemic heart disease burden and between 7% and 41% of certain cancer burdens are attributable to overweight and obesity. [WHO Fact sheet N°311]
Your future self is labelled your “machine” in TKM, and choosing one is the starting point for the reader. The machines will range from thin, low output/intake (the electric machine) to average, medium-output/intake (the mid-sized sedan) to the gas-guzzling muscle car, high-output/intake, with a couple in-between models. For the applicable chapters, information/values will be applied to the different machines, respectively. The book will include a chapter about popular diets, with their pros and cons relating each to the Method. To include (but not limited to): Atkins diet, Dukan diet, South Beach diet, Stillman diet, McDougall’s Starch diet, Blood Type diet, Liquid diet, and Cabbage Soup diet. This FB page is here to help motivate the Author (me!) to get it ready to publish already! Invitees need not think they need the Method, though some of you do; mostly you're just my friends and I need to build my readership. Posts are more than welcome x
