So interesting to read what was administered to these victims of poisonous mushrooms in emergency hospital to try and save them - charcoal, N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) and Silibinin (which is an extract of St Marys Thistle). Wow. This is a concern.

According to a new JAMA study, the average age of a girl's first period has dropped to 11.9 years. The study also found that the rate of first periods occurring early (younger than 11) and very early (younger than nine) has roughly doubled.

While the exact cause is not yet clear, evidence points to endocrine-disrupting chemicals and possible changes in metabolic health, as insulin plays a significant role in the early stages of female puberty. There's a small section about puberty in my new metabolism book.
