Even though experience is not always mandatory for OBA, having RN experience makes your clinical portfolio and employment history more credible. It shows AHPRA you have maintained competency.

Australian hospitals prefer nurses who already have:
• real bedside experience
• familiarity with workloads
• ability to work independently
• critical thinking and decision-making skills
Less experience = harder job hunting, especially in metro areas.

3. Visa Pathways Become Easier

Many skilled visas require experience:
• 482 - usually 1-2 years full-time experience in the last 5 years
• 186 - employers prefer experienced nurses
• 190/189 - experience boosts points + employability
Without experience, you may pass OBA but struggle to secure sponsorship.

4. Faster Adaptation to the AU Healthcare System

RN experience gives you confidence to adjust to:
• high patient acuity
• strict documentation
• legal responsibilities
• multidisciplinary teamwork

2. Maximise Your Super Early

Don’t wait till you’re 50.
Add even a small voluntary contribution each payday.
Compounding interest is REAL in Australia.

3. Live on One Income, Save on the Other

If you’re a couple, this is the fastest way to build wealth in Australia.
If you’re solo, use the “pay yourself first” rule: save before spending.

4. Avoid Lifestyle Inflation
