Want to go healthy and still enjoy some favourites? Here is the healthy alternative to corn chips with nachos: unleavened seed crackers cut into triangles. Our son did his first cooking demonstration just over a week ago in Tiaro, teaching the community how to make these. Recipe included. Enjoy the Omega 3 boost as you eat them!

It's a bit over a week since we ran our plant based cooking class and lunch in Tiaro. Here is a [visual] sample of the dessert we had: layered millet pudding. Also attached is a variation made with peaches, home-made granola, strawberries and banana. Yummo!!

It's been around a week since we ran our last community cooking class in the small town of Tiaro. We had 14 community guests and 8 volunteers. Great food and great company and lots of learning. Looking forward to the next one which is scheduled for 30 June 2024.

It is difficult to change health habits that have been there for a life-time. It's extraordinarily uncomfortable for some. But with the right support, it is achievable.

Struggling with repetitive strain injury in your wrists? Here are 5 scientifically-backed tips to manage it effectively:

1. Take breaks every 30 minutes: Give your wrists a 5-minute break from typing or repetitive tasks.
2. Incorporate wrist stretches: Perform gentle wrist stretches such as wrist flexion and extension, wrist circles, and wrist flexor stretches.
3. Utilize ergonomic equipment: Invest in an ergonomic keyboard and mouse to reduce strain on your wrists and forearms.
4. Apply cold packs for pain relief: Use cold packs for 15-20 minutes every few hours to reduce inflammation and numb pain.
5. Consider wrist splints: Wearing wrist splints at night can help alleviate symptoms by keeping your wrists in a neutral position.

Fruit fly toxin...Well it's not the fruit fly that's toxic, it's what they use to combat it. So tonight, looking through the news headlines I see an ABC article that talks of rising fruit and veg cost and low supply due to a fruit fly issue (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-05-21/fruit-fly-impacting-fresh-produce-prices-farmers-sa/103872340). They talk of heating and fumigating our fruit and veg. And yes this would include 'organically grown'. I wondered, what are they fumigating with. Google research: methyl bromide. What does this do? Google again....check out the list of side effects in the image attached. It emphasises the importance of growing as much as you can yourself!
