💜 Dementia Awareness Week at Tamworth Community Aged Care 💜

This week, our team, residents, and families proudly came together to show our support for Dementia Awareness Week — a cause close to all our hearts. Raising awareness and understanding of dementia is so important, and we’re committed to creating a supportive, inclusive environment for those living with dementia and their loved ones. 💬🧠💕

To mark the occasion, everyone wore purple — a powerful symbol of solidarity and support. Our courtyard came alive under the beautiful sunshine as we fired up the BBQ and enjoyed a delicious lunch together. The smell of grilled food, laughter, and good conversation filled the air. ☀️🍔🌭

In true TCAC style, the celebration didn’t stop there! We moved into a lively Happy Hour with music, games, and plenty of smiles. 🎶🍹 And the grand finale? A hilarious and joy-filled piñata smashing session that had everyone cheering and laughing together! 🎉🪅

Thank you to our amazing staff, residents, and families for making the day so special. By coming together in support of Dementia Awareness Week, we’re not only having fun — we’re helping to build a more compassionate and understanding community. 💜

🎶 Dementia Week Happy Hour at TCAC 🎶

How truly blessed were we at Tamworth Community Aged Care this afternoon! 💛 As part of our Dementia Week celebrations, we had the wonderful Jessie & Kyle join us for a very special Happy Hour.
Their beautiful voices filled the room with joy, nostalgia, and even a few tears, as they sang heartfelt songs that sparked cherished memories among our residents. One touching moment was when Jessie dedicated a song to a special resident friend — a gesture that moved many of us deeply.
It was a powerful reminder of how music can connect us, evoke emotion, and bring comfort in the most meaningful ways. 💫
A huge thank you to Jessie & Kyle for sharing their time and talent with us — you truly made this afternoon unforgettable. 💐

Theme: “Nobody Can Do It Alone”

This week, we join communities around Australia in recognising Dementia Awareness Week, a time to reflect, learn, and support those living with dementia and the people who care for them. The theme “Nobody Can Do It Alone” is a powerful reminder that compassion, connection, and community make a world of difference.
Here at Tamworth Community Aged Care, we’re honouring this message with a week full of wonderful, inclusive activities designed to bring joy, spark memories, and celebrate togetherness 💜
🐰 Calm Your Farm brought smiles with animal cuddles in the sunshine
🎨 We’re getting creative with paper mache piñatas for our upcoming BBQ
🎤 Happy Hour on Thursday will feature some very special guests
🎶 And of course, plenty of sing-alongs to stir the soul and lift the spirit!
It’s been a heartfelt, happy week so far – and it’s only just getting started!
Let’s continue to raise awareness, show support, and remember: nobody can do it alone – but together, we can do so much. 💜

Today at Tamworth Community Aged Care, we proudly recognised R U OK? Day – a day that reminds us all to check in, start a conversation, and support those around us. Because sometimes, a simple “Are you OK?” can make a world of difference. 💛

Our lovely residents enjoyed a special morning tea, featuring delicious Yellow & Chocolate Iced cupcakes lovingly made by our Chef. 🧁
Thank you to our in-house cafe 'Fillies & Colts for the delicious coffee and tea.

We were also delighted to welcome some of our residents' family members, who joined us in sharing conversations and sweet treats.

To help raise awareness and show support, our amazing staff wore Yellow & Black, the colours of the R U OK? movement.

Yesterday, Our Facility celebrated Father’s Day, with a special focus on honouring not only fathers, but all the important men within our lives — past and present. The day was filled with heartfelt appreciation, recognising the meaningful roles these men have played. Residents enjoyed sharing stories, memories, and moments of reflection, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere. It was a lovely opportunity to show gratitude not just for today, but always. 🛠️💙🫂

At The Vue Community Aged Care, another one of our For Purpose Aged Care homes, we were honoured to witness fathers and sons sharing meaningful moments — a beautiful reminder of the enduring bonds that connect generations.

👔 Father’s Day Morning Tea at Tamworth Community Aged Care 💙

On Friday morning, we had the pleasure of celebrating the incredible Fathers, Grandfathers, Uncles, and Father figures within our Tamworth Community Aged Care community with a special Father’s Day Morning Tea.

Our guests, along with their wives and families, enjoyed a delicious selection of slices, hot finger food, and freshly brewed tea and coffee in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. ☕🍰

Adding a truly heartwarming touch to the morning, we were treated to a beautiful song performance by the granddaughter of one of our residents — a moment that brought smiles and even a few happy tears. 🎶❤️

👨‍👧‍👦 Fathers hold a special place in our lives — they are our guides, our strength, and our greatest supporters. Celebrating them is something we cherish deeply.

Our Memory Support residents had a wonderful morning getting creative with a special Father’s Day craft! 🎨💙

Using bright crepe paper, they made beautiful and colourful posters to celebrate the dads and father figures in their lives. The smiles and laughter filled the room as they each added their own special touch to the display.

This afternoon, we enjoyed a lovely outing to our in-house café for coffee, scones, jam, and cream – always a favourite! ☕🍓🍰

And the fun doesn’t stop there – next up, we’re off to the cinema room to watch the Raiders take on the Tigers! 🏉🎬

Today our staff and residents proudly donned their favourite flannos in support of Flanno for a Farmer 👕❤️ A sea of checks and colour filled the air as we came together to raise awareness and show our support for our Aussie farmers.
We soaked up the sunshine, enjoyed a delicious BBQ, and shared plenty of laughs along the way. It was heartwarming to see everyone getting involved, looking fabulous in flannelette, and coming together for such a great cause.

🌼 Daffodil Day at Tamworth Community Aged Care 🌼

Today we came together in a sea of yellow to support Daffodil Day, honouring the thousands of Australians affected by cancer every year. 💛
Residents and staff wore yellow with pride and created beautiful daffodil-themed crafts to show our support for life-saving cancer research.
Daffodil Day is a reminder that hope blooms through all of us — every donation, every conversation, and every act of support helps lead to better treatments and brighter futures.

☀️ Morning Tea Outing to Ranch House Cafe.

What a delightful morning our residents had on their bus trip to the Ranch House Café! Everyone enjoyed a beautiful cup of coffee or tea, along with a delicious spread of scones, slices, and waffles – absolutely scrumptious! 😋
It was a lovely chance to catch up with one another, share stories, and enjoy some sunshine and fresh air. 🌞💬

🎸 Special Visit from Kevin Anderson MP 🎤

At the end of July we had the pleasure of welcoming Kevin Anderson, our local Member of Parliament, to the facility for a very special morning with our residents.

Kevin generously shared the story of his journey into politics, and our residents were captivated by his personal reflections and life experiences. Many took the opportunity to ask questions and reminisce about their own memories of Kevin – some had worked with him in past careers or shared musical moments before his political life began!

A real highlight of the morning was when Kevin picked up a guitar and performed a heartfelt rendition of “Country Roads”, joined by our Wellbeing Assistant, Leanne. It was a beautiful, musical moment that had everyone smiling and singing along.

Our kitchen team also treated everyone to a delicious morning tea with cakes and sandwiches, adding to the joy of the occasion.

It was a wonderful morning of storytelling, music, and connection. We thank Kevin for taking the time to visit, and we look forward to welcoming him back again soon! 💙
